Wakaba Chapter 6
"Today was the Day..."

The entire group had made it to the Muse-Greenhill border by mid-day. They asked the guard if a group led by a unusually peppy samurai male and an quiet samurai female had come through there.

"Uh... Yeah... I think so. They came through here just yesterday."

"Thank you." Anri smiled politely.

They all went through the gates, and burst up the road in hopes of at least catching them at the time they got to the entrance.

Sadly these hopes were in vain, though they could see a large traveling party, they weren't sure if it was just a small caravan of merchants or something of the sort. They decided to break for camp where they were, and rest for the night.

They all sat talking around a fire Tsomu had built.

Wakaba started, "Why wouldn't they wake us up, or at least leave us a note? Isn't that just the tiniest bit rude? Also, why were we picked if they were just going to leave us behind?

"Well, they did pick young children. I mean, could you see anyone in our group besides the leaders whose age was over 20? I think they're looking for the strongest and the best."

Anri just sat there, with her eyes closed, deep in thought.

"But we are the best! Why did they leave us behind? The peppy guy hand picked me to come just because I was walking down the street at the right time."

"That woman didn't talk much. Hey! She didn't look much like she was over twenty herself. Isn't that a little peculiar?"

Anri still didn't answer.

"Hey Anri, what's wrong?"

Still nothing.

"Hey, c'mon, answer us!!!"

Anri finally broke her own silence, "That woman was raised in Harmonia and bred to be a killing machine at the first Silvermoon Temple. I was there. I was kicked out for dishonoring the Temple. I openly accused my fellow Silvermoon of killing innocent people. That damned man we called our Master. He had recently removed another samurai named Genshu for dishonoring him. I am really not sure what for though..."

"Anri?"

"I have to remove this temple from existence before it kills more people and ruins more lives."

The silence after that was akward. Wakaba doused the fire and lay on a blanket, as did Tsomu and Anri.

Wakaba didn't sleep. Her mind was busy with the thoughts that Anri had placed in her head. She had just lain there without noticing anything around her. No sounds, no sights, just thoughts. She envisioned people being slaughtered, the sounds of blistering, crackling flame, and the screams of hundreds of innocent boys. During the night, icy chills ran up and down her back. Anri's words haunted her for the long hours of the night. Echoing in her head as the crackling of the imaginary flame became louder and louder, and burning everything in sight. A young boy with brown hair and a brigade uniform that had a unicorn emblem on it. He wielded tonfas and wore a golden head band around his head. She saw him leap off a cliff and into a flowing river.

The interminable hours of the night stretched on until extinguished like a flame.

The dawn broke, and Wakaba's vision ended and her eyes had sight once more. She didn't feel tired, in fact she felt quite rested. Her eyes burned with a fire as strong as the sun. Tears streamed down her face.

Today was the day...
