| Templeton Chapter 1 "Has Anyone Seen My Maps?"
 (Forest Village)

" Fields are so green today Temply!! Don't you feel this pleasant, gentle
breeze? And...Look! Look in front of you, what a wonderful sight!! The
mountains, the flowers, the sky, the clouds...Why don't you make a note
of them in your maps?!"
"Maps are not paintings, Marian. They're...."
 "...Borings!!"
 "...Usefuls!!"
 "...Monotonouses!!"
" Stop it, please!! It's late...our parents will be worried if we don't
return at home, don't you think?"
" Oh man!! Not only maps but also YOU are boring!!"
I didn't say anyhing that time; I just got up, and saw the sunset.
" Ehi Templeton, dinner is ready!!"
" Thanks mum."
My father looked at me and said:
" Tonight here's a party in the town. Girls and boys will dance around
a cracklig fire. Why don't you go with Marian?!"
 "..Cr..crackling fi.. fire?!"
I ever concealed my fear of fire. With my parents, my friends, Marian...with
all.
 " What's wrong Templeton?"
" ??!! Ehh?! Well...n..nothing father, I'm right now, however tell
to Marian I won't come; lately I'm very busy. I've to finish three maps."
" My son, why don't you try to enjoy yourself? You're only 13 years
old."
" Tommorow I'll go to the forest near the lake. I've to create of that
place, good night."
Get up now, young map maker, that was only a dream, that was a past,
a past will not return.
My room was well lighted, clean, and very tidy. Inn keeper told me
that I was a respectable person; oh well I'm so embarassed, I said.
I hate rooms in a mess, with socks on the cupboards, very important
documents under the bed, fountains pens in the bathroom, toothbrushes in
the bedroom.
 You're so boring.
Now I can understand what you said Marian, but it's too late. The same
fire I ever hated, the  same fire took you away.
I shaked my head with violence... I tried to talk with the innkeeper
about Imperial armies and Highland.
 " What about Ruka Blight?"
" I don't know anything boy. I hope he will not come to this town.
We're all modest people, you know  and it's impossible for us to pay
taxes so high!!"
 " You're right, that's an injustice!!"
I sipped my coffee, then I got up.
" Tomorrow I'll leaving Forest village and this beautiful inn, I'm
so sorry."
" Are you going? What a pity!!"
 "..Yeah.."
I entered in my room, now the sun was high, a beautiful music came from
outside, so melancholy, nearly sad, singed in a foreign laguage. Quickly
I looked at my writing desk, and I realized that all my maps were DISAPPEARED!!!
" How can be?" I asked myself.
In the other room I could tell clearly a child's voice; she was singing
that music, but in others worlds.
It was so nice listening that melody; I was curious to know her, so
I entered in the other room.
" Excuse me, may I come in?"
" Sure you can!!" She replied with her shrilled voice.
" Strange clothes and strange language..."
" Don't you like my pink dress?"
 " No, I didn't mean that, sorry!!"
" Well, what did you want to say me?"
 "..What..what were you doing?"
 " Don't you see? I was drawing!"
She showed me her drawings but there was a problem: they were on my
maps!!!! Hours and hours of hard work destroyed by a child! I try to contain
myself, but the kid understood all.
 " They were yours, right?"
 "...Yeah..."
I remained silent, then I re looked the drawings: There were mountains,
flowers, clouds, and.... a marvellous sky. I remebered what I said that
time to Marian:
 " Maps are not paintings."
I looked her in the face and I asked:
" Could you present your drawings to me?"
" Fiori alberi nell'eterno splendore della notte La La La"
" ?!What have you said ?"
" It's my song, do you have still forgotten?! However, take them!"
I covered the endless corridor in a reverent silence. I wasn't angry
with her, I was thinking about Marian and her words. Suddenly, that misterious
child said to me:
" Promise!"
 " ...Promise..what?!"
" Promise one day in those maps will be clouds, flowers and little
birds!!"
" World will be better than today."
It was the only thing I could say.
 "...And I'll be happier!!"
 " Most probably."
 Six o' clock.
Candlestick on the the desk was going out.
I was so tired but I've finished all maps of that place; outside was
raining.
I felt cold, so I closed the door.
 My mind was empty then.
I smiled, I observed the charts and I whispered:
" Borings and monotonouses. You're right, my dear Marian."
 And I fell asleep.
