"Case of the missing Dice" (Kuskus) Play this midi for the full effect Another day another morning. It's time to leave for KusKus as he had promised his little brother yesterday. Boy, is he ever full. Even tho the feast they had was last night, his stomach is just too filled up to eat anything else anymore. It was a delicious meal too. He never knew his brother can cook that well. He supposes that it was because of his extreme happiness. His little brother always disliked war. Especially since he got to experience it first hand back during the war with the Scarlet Moon Empire. Well, he thinks, time to pack up and move out for KusKus. He looks around, and sees the hut empty with no other mortal except himself. Heh, I guess Yam Koo went out to fish again, he told himself. He then gathered up his clothes that would supply him enough for the duration of the stay at KusKus. Maybe I should stay for two weeks instead of a week, he thought. Or maybe just stay there and come to Coronet for visits instead. He picked up the last of his belongings, the prized Chinchirorin bowl with the two dices inside it, and then he heads for the door. Wait a second... TWO DICES?!?! He looks around the small hut. What? How? Why? Huh? Two dices? He looks back into the bowl and realised that these two dices isn't even the new dices that he bought yesterday. He began to remember right before Shai came in with the good news, he was throwing the dices to... "test run" it, as how Yam Koo would put it. "Ahhhhh, crap... I guess the dices never made it into the bowl" he said to himself out loud. He then clamly put down all the things he had packed and began to look around the house. Even if he only found one dice, it doesn't really matter, as long as they have three dices. After all, it's not like Yam Koo can really tell the difference between the old dices and the new dices to see that they are at a loss. Minutes went by. He was crouced under a stool. More minutes went by. He was looking on top of a cabinet. Now it's already an hour. He was looking at the holes that are evident on the floor. A couple more minutes went by from the hour. Where is that damn dice? He began to panic. For the first time since... a long time, he starts to wonder what will happen. He NEVER wonders of what will happen. Usually, he'll just casually let things be no matter how bad it is, but this is Chinchirorin. His favourite game. The game that Gaspar showed him how to play and how to master. Is this the result of the dices not going into the bowl? Eternal bad luck for those who fail to put in not even one of those true luck dices? He then stood in the middle of his hut. Thinking hard. Hardly ever happens. Sweat is trickling down his temple. Where could it be, he mutters to himself. He then tries to recollect. His brother almost slammed the dices on the bowl. He took it when his brother's result was all too unsatisfying. He threw it into the bowl. And then Shai abruptly forces himself into the household. Then, in hearing the news, Yam Koo went out to fish and he himself... wait... what did he do after that? His right hand then sub-conciously rubs his chin as he is trying to recall what he did. He then remembers, after the whole ordeal, he sat down and talked to Shai about the full story of his news, about how Jillia Blight went to Muse and signed the peace treaty with Lady Annabelle, and he remembers very well of how Shai was head over heels on Jillia Blight's beauty. But after that? Ah, he went to take a nap. His brother then came in with a huge trout in his hand. Maybe about two and a half foot long. It musta been his lucky day. Or his happiness brought all the luck in the world to him. We then offered Shai to stay for the feast, and he did. We all ate that night, and after we finished the whole fish, we talked to Shai about going to KusKus for awhile. Shai was thinking of going with us, but he suddenly reclined and said he had some business to attend to. And he went out. Hmmmm... could it be... nah, it can't be Shai. He's a good friend of theirs since their arrival at Coronet. But then, with the reputation that Coronet has about their sailors, he would not be surprised if Shai is the one. He then rethink his position right now. An hour and a half went by as he was searching for the dices. And he starts to think again. He could just buy new dices. That Shop Dealer would still be around in this town somewhere. He began to feel calmer now. His heartbeat has now slowed down. There's nothing to worry about. There never has been anything to worry about. All he has to do is just go and buy some new dices, and that'll be that. He then puts his pack near the door and went out. Uh oh. The Shop Dealer has left. That's what the Inn owner said. He said that the shop dealer has gone to Muse to buy something. That damn shop dealer with his stupid looking Fish Amulet have gone to Muse to buy something. Of all times for that shop dealer to move, THIS had to be it? Now what'll he do? No dices, no Chinchirorin, no Chinchirorin, he would truely have absolutely NOTHING to do. Even tho he might seem the type to like that, but in reality, he still has to do something to keep himself sane. And the Chinchirorin was the thing. Whether if it was his brother playing, or some other schmuck, as long as he can hear the dice rattling into the bowl, it'll make him feel all better everyday. Just then, a shaggy looking guy entered the inn. The guy looked almost fat, but not really, with messy black hair and a messy black trenchcoat. "Hey Tai Ho, I need a boat so I can go to KusKus. I need to get to Radat by tomorrow because I'm gonna meet up with a trader there for a little business proposal" said the shaggy looking guy. "Sure, I can get you to KusKus, but not right now, tho. I have some other things to worry about" "Worry? You? That's a new one" "Well... hold on a second... how did you know my name?" "Let's talk at the tavern downstairs" the shaggy looking guy said and they then proceeded to the tavern. The tavern was almost empty, so it wasn't hard for them to find a seat. They proceeded to a table near the exit and began. "Okay, my name's Richmond, and I'm a private investigator from Radat. I went to Muse for awhile on a little business. I know all about you and the Toran Republic and even know about your little Chinchirorin loss to McDohl. Which is what made you join the Liberation Army in the first place. I know that your little brother nearly got killed in the Shasarazade battle which made him quit fighting and now all he does is just fish. And I know some other things about you, but I can see that you don't really care, do you?" Richmond said as he looked at the boring expression that Tai Ho is displaying for him, "Okay, now you, can you get me to KusKus? It's really important that I leave today" "You're a private investigator, right? Then if you help me, I'll help you. You see, this morning, I just realised that I lost one of my Chinchirorin dices, and it's really worrying me to no end, and let me tell you..." "This never happened to you before, right?" Richmond finished his sentence for him, "Interesting little case, and since I have an idea where your dices might be, I'll accept the job" "Good, you get the job done, and I'll send you to KusKus" "Excellent, now let's go to your little hut so I can investigate this case further" Richmond looked around the hut. He looked under the stool, on the cabinet, at the holes in the floor. Almost at the exact same spots where Tai Ho was looking for them. He finished looking around and then shook his head. "Hmmm... actually, I have to say, this is the toughest I've ever have to investigate. But don't worry," he flipped a coin in his hand, "There's nothing I cannot solve" He then asked Tai Ho for the whole story of the event. They proceeded to Shai's little house near the Inn. Richmond asked Shai a couple of questions, in which Shai answered truthfully, or at least, that's what Richmond thinks. They asked for permission to look around the house and Shai gave it, while looking at Tai Ho with a blatant scowl expression. "Look, it wasn't my idea, okay, I told him you came to our house yesterday, and he thought maybe we should search your house" Tai Ho explained to Shai. Shai, still with a doubtful look to his face, only nods and looks at Richmond searching the house. Richmond finishes up and turned around. "Hmmmm... well, you're clean, Shai, sorry to take up your time" he said apologetically and then started with Tai Ho to return to Tai Ho's hut. "Well Tai Ho... I have to say, this has me perplexed too. But I still think I have a good idea where your dices are. Can I take a look at your sleeping quarters?" "Sure, go on ahead" And Richmond made his search at Tai Ho and Yam Koo's little sleeping quarters. He looked at the floor(since that's the only thing there) and then nods. He got up and started going around the house again. He looked at Tai Ho and smiled. "Where's your brother-in-law?" he asked. As if on queue, Yam Koo then entered the house with his fishing stick in his hands. "Hey, brother Tai Ho. Who's this guy?" he asked nonchalantly. "Hello, Yam Koo, I'm Richmond, private investigator from Radat" Richmond explained himself. "Radat? Boy, you're a long way from there, aren't you?" he said while shaking Richmond's hand. "Yes, uhmmm... may I ask you one thing?" "What?" "Can I take a look at your backside?" Hearing this Yam Koo then jumped back from Richmond with his fishing stick high up in front of his face "Wh-Wh-Wh-WHAT?!?! What are you? A goddamn h..." "Oh no no no no, I'm anything but that..." Richmond explained, "No, I'm just looking for something at the request of your brother, and I need to see your body to approve of what I have assessed of this situation" Yam Koo, with his fishing stick still in front of him, said with a slight shake in his voice, "O- Okay... but if you do anything, I swear, brother Tai Ho and I will kick your ass from here all the way to Geldonya" "Yes, yes, of course" Richmond agreed with him. Yam Koo then lifted up his robe to expose his bare butt. "See anything you wanted to see?" Yam Koo asked while his face is turning red. "Yup, thanks for your co-operation" Richmond said and to this little quote, Yam Koo pulls down his robe to cover his butt again. Even tho it was just for a short moment, and only shown to one complete stranger, Yam Koo's face had never been as red as it is now. It must've been really humiliating to Yam Koo, who never undresses in front of anybody. Not even me, his brother-in-law. Richmond then looked at Tai Ho, put his little shaggy grin into his face, and flipped the coin. "Yup, I've confirmed it, Tai Ho, your dices aren't lost, your little brother-in-law just packed it up in his "pack", after he slept on it yesterday night" "Is that what this is all about? Those defective dices?" Yam Koo starts to realise the situation, "Seriously, why didn't you guys just asked me about it? I wouldn't have to go thru this humiliating experience had you only asked" "Heh, sorry, little brother, but let me tell you, you have a nice piece of ass" Tai Ho joked with Yam Koo who's now turning all red. Richmond laughed at this and they all started out of the hut to head on to KusKus.
