Tai Ho Chapter 1

"True luck"

(Coronet)

He was just sitting in his house in Coronet. Thinking of tomorrow's hectic schedule. Should he or shouldn't he do this work. Or maybe he should just sit around like usual and think of what to do on the upcoming week. Or maybe he should just laze around his house and think of nothing, as what he usually does. Unless of course, some sucker comes in with some money for his Chinchirorin game. Although, all in all, he'd probably just sleep. He's not really the type to be working a lot, since he knows that's not where the fun is. But then, people thinks he's a shiftless layabout here in Coronet. Back at KusKus however, people liked him for what he does. Being an all around fun guy. maybe that's what he should do. Go back to KusKus for one simple trip, get paid, and then hang around there for a week.

And at that moment, his little brother comes into the house with a handful of fish.

"We should really go back to KusKus, brother Tai Ho" said Yam Koo, "This place just don't have that many busy fish. Especially not in this season"

That was his queue all right. Time to go to KusKus. Since he got the green light from his little brother, now all he has to do is just set sail. Tomorrow of course, because he just doesn't feel like doing anything today. As usual.

His brother then played around with the Chinchirorin dices. It's ironic, he always played the Chinchirorin with people who came in his house looking for work, but never has he once played the Chinchirorin with his brother-in-law, who lives in the same house as he does. They have nothing to lose. The money they both make would profit both of them. And they have nothing to worry about for food. His brother fishes outside every day. To tell the truth, he doesn't even really need a job. Food is all ready and able. Money is not really needed cos they lead a extremely simple life, with no real necessities. He wonders now why does he ever take jobs that people offered him. Then again, he wonders why in the world he became a fisherman in the first place.

"Huh, these dices must be defective. I keep on getting 1, 2 and 3" the voice of his brother sound into his head, and got him out of his little trance.

"Really? let me see" Tai Ho said and took the dice and threw it into the bowl.

The three dices flew into the bowl but somehow, one of the dices hit the wall of the bowl closer Tai Ho andjumped off to the other side of the bowl, it then hit onto the floor of the bowl only to surprisingly jumped so high up, that it went out of the bowl. This worries Tai Ho. He felt as if something bad's going to happen. Or is happening.

"See? I told you they were defective. What do you think? Should we go buy a new one?" said Yam Koo.

"Well, we have a lot of money to spare, I don't see why not"

"1000 potch for a bunch of dices? That's a bit too much, don't you think?" said Yam Koo to the shop dealer.

"Hey, buddy, this is a top of the line, high quality, true lucky dice here, nicely cut edges, smooth surface, won't fail to make a good number up, even said to be a dice that can tell the future... hell, play that... uhhh... bowl game..."

"Chinchirorin"

"Right, whatever, play that thing with these dices, you'd be getting a Thunder all the way"

"Storm"

"Right, whatever... so, what do you say?"

"I've got armor that costs less than those dices and armor keeps me alive!"

"All right, all right, geez... 150 potch a piece, how's that?"

"Sounds about fair... what do you think brother Tai Ho?" Yam Koo questioned Tai Ho, asking for his opinion, since it was really Tai Ho that really plays with these games and dices.

"Well..." Tai Ho was about to speak until he was rudely interrupted by the shop dealer, "Wait... Tai Ho? As in, Tai Ho from the Scarlet Moon Empire war? Tai Ho that was in the Liberation Army Tai Ho?"

"Uhhh... yes?" Tai Ho answered quite hesistantly, hoping that him admitting to who he is would not bring bad fortune to him or his brother.

"Well, hell, why didn't you people tell me you were Tai Ho and Yam Koo of the Toran Republic. Hell, if I'da known, I'da given you these dices for free" said the shopdealer with quite huge grin on his face.

"Yes, thank you, your kindness is highly appreciated" said Tai Ho in grattitude, tho he was actually hoping to pay, because he has a lot of money to spare in the house. Hell, even if paying that obscene price of 1000 potch a piece would make a good thing. He's tired of seeing all those potch in his house, just sitting there with no purpose except to buy some clothing. But then, never look a gift horse from the mouth, they always say.

"Well... we got new dices... let's test them out" said Yam Koo. Yam Koo then threw the dices into the bowl and out came 1-2-3. He threw it again, more slowly and clamly this time, and out came another 1-2-3. Frustrated, he shook the dices in his palms harshly with no remorse and almost slammed them into the bowl. The result frustrated Yam Koo more than the time he lost the 8 inches blowfish back at Kaku. It was 1-1-1. Yam Koo then clutches his head and shouted, "Damn rip-off!!!"

This brought a smile into Tai Ho's face, looking at his little brother's amusing little spiel with the dices, especially thinking that Yam Koo said they were ripped when they didn't even pay for these new dices. "Don't worry little brother, not everyone in the family has the same luck. Just be glad that you're not the one we put in charge of the Chinchirorin handling"

"Really? Well, let's see YOU try this thing out"

So Tai Ho took the dice and threw it up into the bowl, until suddenly, a good friend of theirs stormed into the hut they were living in, all huffing and panting. "H- *huff* Hey, guys... *puff* Did you guys hear? *huff* The war with Highland is over!"

Yam Koo beamed at this news and said, "For real, Shai? It's over?"

Shai took a little breather and then started, "Yeah, just heard the news, Lady Annabelle signed the peace yesterday. I ran all that I can from Muse to give this news to Coronet. And I'm dead tired. Can I rest here for awhile?"

"For sure! Hell, I'm going to go fishing for awhile, we should get a feast ready for this. This is HUGE news!" said Yam Koo while grabbing his fishing stick and going for the door. Tai Ho thinks that he actually heard Yam Koo whisteling. That's a rare thing to happen.

But of course, none of them ever realised that the dices Tai Ho had thrown into the bowl never did make it. Not even one of those new, top of the line, high quality, true lucky dice made it to the bowl.
