"The Suspicious" (Two River) To say Stallion trusted this odd person, would be similar to saying Humphrey was an easy person to talk to. It all happened so strange, not the way two would normally meet in a realistic setting. This man is watching him race, which the elf couldn't blame him for, who wouldn't? Anyhow, he is watching him race and when the challenger loses and throws a fit, he starts the heroics. He doesn't simply ward them off, but he uses his strange rune to transform into some sort of monster to scare them off. Then, he insists On helping him up and being friendly. Stallion may not of exactly been the nicest guy in the world or the smartest, but he knew when something wasn't right. However, Stallion wasn't going to jump up and call the man's bluff. No, he would watch and wait for this 'Bob' fellow to make a mistake... Of course Stallion had nothing to hide, so if bragging about his speed was enough to cause Bob to screw up. He was by all means willing to do it and confirm his suspicions. "So I picked her up and ran, whew! Boy did I run, I ran faster than ever! And just when I didn't think I could get any faster, I did! So after we were in the clear, I checked up on her to see is she was alright... well physically she was, but mentally....." Stallion continued on. Bob shook his head then cleared his throat, "Liberation Army, Unicorn Brigade, Great Forest, you've seen all these things?" "Of course, you don't become the fastest elf in the world by moping at home all day" Stallion replied with a cocky smile, "As I was saying, she wasn't exactly smart... Of course, her mumbling caused the soldiers to catch up and fire at us. Getting me in the leg and--" "Why do you run around for no reason?" Bob asked, "What about your 'elf village' that burned down?" Bob didn't exactly trust Stallion either, his odd rune, incredible speed and weird name didn't seem to stack up to his amazing story. "I don't want to talk about it." Stallion blurted out. He paused for a few seconds, and the continued on with his rambling. "Anyway, what was I saying? Oh yeah. It got me the leg! But being the bravest elf in the world, I focused my mind off the pain, and continued to keep going..." "Do you always try to make friends this way? By showing off?" Bob suddenly interrupted again. "Make friends?" Stallion mocked and repeated the same phrase back, "Do you always try to make friends that way? By showing off?" Bob gave a confused look at the blue-haired motermouth. "What do you mean? When did I show off?" Bob asked. "Ha! I could have handled all those buffoons! Yet, you had to come on and boast your strength, change into a were-thing, and scare them off! And what is with that anyway? How can you change into that thing?!" "I don't want to talk about it." Bob mimicked. Didn’t he already know?, Bob thought. "Fine then!" Stallion snapped at Bob like a mousetrap setting off. He started to chow down on the food, that Bob bought for him, as they were the only ones in the restaurant part of the Inn. "Oh, and uh.... thanks for the food." "Your welcome." Bob got up and walked to the door. "Hey! Where are you going?!" Stallion jumped out from his seat. "I'm leaving this town. It was nice meeting you Stallion." Bob turned away from the elf and started to open the door. "Wait! You are just going to leave me here?!" Bob gave another confused look. "Do you honestly expect that I'm going to let you leave?" Stallion asked incredulously, "I don't want you going around thinking 'I owe you one'." Bob thought it over, "No, I don't think it's necessary" "No really... the fight thing may have been showing off, but I do owe you for the food..." Stallion replied before trailing off, "I happened to leave my Potch at my temporary residence, follow me and I shall pay you back." "Fine." Bob's instincts set off like a fire alarm. This has to be a trap! But if it isn’t, I don’t have time to make friends with him anyway. I tried to make friends before, and good does it do? They just leave you sooner or later. No, I can’t have this elf tagging along. I have to end this. I’ll just take the potch and go. Stallion surprisingly led him out of the human district, across the small river into Winger district. The stench of the creatures gave Bob a shiver, as he became too cautious for even him to handle. Stallion looked back at Bob, who was trying to conceal his nervousness but managed a weak smile. He took one of the side routes into one of the alleyways. As they were about to go around the corner, they heard a child scream. Stallion ran ahead of Bob and turned the corner, where a tall dark shadowy man stood. Dressed in dark clothes, his long black hair flowing in the cool breeze, and a long scar crossed over his face. He located the child, it was Tiki, the winger girl who Stallion had taken residence with. She seemed to have a pouch of some sort in her hands and was attempting to fly away from the man. Bob ran up beside Stallion catching his breath while looking around. "Corvus...?" Bob said in astonishment. Why is he here? "Come back here you little pest" The man, whom Bob had referred to as Corvus, yelled angrily. "No way, I found it fair and square!" Tiki retorted in her usual cocky way. "Pests need to be exterminated." Corvus smiled with an evil grin. He muttered something unintelligible, then grabbed the leg of the Winger girl with deadly speed and accuracy. "Hey, let me go!" Tiki cried. "Okay, okay! I'll give it back!" As Tiki dropped the pouch on the ground, Corvus began to laugh. "You think I will show mercy on a disgusting little fly like you? Please." Corvus laughed out loud, but no joy was present it. Like a spider playing with its food... "Hey! That's not fair!" Tiki cried again. She glanced over to Stallion, and cried to him. "Elf-man! Please help me!" Stallion's blood began to boil. Bob and Stallion both looked up at the helpless Winger. They saw Tiki kicking and screaming, trying to break free of Corvus's grasp. Suddenly, Corvus grabbed her other foot. Before she could react, he threw her down to the ground smashing her on the hard ground below. Stallion could only watch in horror, overcome with intense rage. He fumbled his hand until he came to the quiver over his back. He pulled out an arrow, placed it steadily on the bowstring of his Shiva bow, pulled back the string and fired it towards Corvus. The arrow never made contact, as Corvus grabbed it right out of the air. A scowl crossed his face as he glared at Stallion, then changed to a smile when he spotted Bob directly behind. "Imagine meeting you here..." Corvus replied as he eyed Bob quietly. "To think that I would have found a better prize than that pathetic traitor Fox." Bob's eyes jumped open with astonishment. "You are looking for Fox?! Where is he!" Bob yelled with rage. "Don't you know? He is on his way to Ryube, but that doesn't matter now. You are more important than he is. Why bring a fox for the feast when you can bring a wolf? Ha ha ha..." Stallion ignored the two, he was to overcome with his hatred. He pulled out several of his arrows and held them under his shoulder. One by one he fired them towards Corvus until he reached the last one, which he pointed straight for the heart. All of them missed, save the last which struck him in the side of his hip rather than the heart it was meant to strike. "You...! How dare you attack me!" Corvus screeched, "You shall pay dearly for that!" Bob has already pulled out his beast rod and was prepared to attack, and Stallion had reloaded his bow ready to fire another arrow. Corvus floated down from the roof of the building and gently landed on the ground. Giving off a piercing grin, he reached behind him, under his long black cap, and pulled out his weapon, a double-edged boomerang, in the shape of two black wings. Bob and Stallion quickly got into their stances. "I’m going to enjoy killing you two peons." Corvus shrieked as he threw his boomerang at Stallion, who quickly dodged out of its way with tremendous speed. "My my my. Such speed. You amaze me, elf. I could use a rune like that. I'll rip it off your lifeless body!" With no weapon in hand, Corvus jumped at Stallion, with fists clenched, slamming into Stallion's chest, sending him flying into a wall from a nearby building. "Not fast enough though." Corvus laughed. He turned to Bob, but he was no where to be seen. He looked around, panicking. Suddenly, he heard a stick snap behind him. A grin emerged from his cold face. He quickly swerved around, and slammed his right foot into Bob's stomach, sending him flying into some bushes. "Ha ha ha, you humans fly faster than these dirty Wingers." Corvus jumped in the air, did a 360 spin, and caught his boomerang that had been returning since its flight. He jumped into his awkward looking stance, and gave a sardonic grin. Suddenly an arrow whizzed by Corvus with tremendous speed, nipping him in the shoulder, drawing out blood. He looked at it and his grin turned to a scowl. "Elf. You are really beginning to annoy me with your petty arrows!" He spun around to face Stallion, whom was already in his defensive position. "I will make you pay for what you did to Tiki!" he cried with anger. "So that was the winger's name? Ha!" Corvus ran at Stallion with binding force, but being the quickest man in the planet, he dodged it, and Corvus slammed into the tree behind him. Corvus slowly got up, with fatigue, but his energy quickly recovered as blood streamed out of his nose. He charged again at Stallion, but suddenly Corvus's image spit into three others. They all surrounded the confused Toranian elf, whom immediately started to panic. With what would have been a snap of a finger, all the images began to pummel Stallion with hard punches and strong kicks, until Stallion fell to the ground, in agony. "Stallion!" Bob screamed. I can’t let this happen to him. It is my fault he got involved. I have to end this! Bob jumped to his feet and immediately the pain in his stomach stopped. He charged at Corvus, with his beast rod in hand, and when he got the chance, slammed the rod into Corvus's face, dazing him. Then, out a fit of rage and anger, Bob started to lay multiple hits with his rod, like a chain combo. He hit him in every possible spot on his body, and Corvus fell to his knees, gasping for air. Bob held his rod for the last time, motioning the anticipation to slam the rod over Corvus's head, cracking his skull. But suddenly, all of Bob's energy dissipated. Like he was being drained of life. "What...is going on." Bob gasped as he fell to the ground. Damn, whiplash. Bob forgot about his recent transformation, and saving Stallion from the bullies. He also forgot that he gets whiplash whenever he used his powers. It must have slipped his mind while listening to the elf babble. Corvus got up, and belted out a huge laugh. "You fool! You must have transformed recently, haven't you? Ha ha ha, that is what makes you Lycanthrope's weak. My clan is supreme! The clan is the answer to your race's mistake!" Corvus walked up to Bob, with his bladed boomerang in hand, and held it near Bob's neck. "Even though Leo wants you alive, I don't. Soon Leo will be nothing and I will have the Clan for myself. I will not need you." Just as Corvus was going to slit Bob's throat, he suddenly felt an agonizing pain in his lower shoulder. He looked down, and saw an arrow sticking out from his back. He slowly turned around, and saw Stallion, half standing, with his bow in hand, gasping. "Prepare to meet you maker." Stallion told him. Suddenly Stallion's rune glowed and he ran to Corvus with blinding speed, and began to pummel him, just like Bob did, but lightning fast. All that Bob could heard was Corvus's groans as his body got beaten to a pulp. To finish off the blows, Stallion jumped in the air, and planted his feet into Corvus' chest, slamming him into the wall of a winger building, breaking it through. The wheezing and gasping Corvus slowly got up, and stared at Stallion with anger. He then turned his back and raised his right hand, "I will not forget this, elf." He jumped up in the air and transformed into his were-crow form and flew off into the sunset. The Toranian elf slowly walked to the winger girls side, he placed his hand over her chest. He cursed angrily and stood up with a glint of hatred in his eyes. Bob slowly came too and walked over and did the same, he felt no heartbeat, breathing, nothing. She had died on contact, Corvus had killed her mercilessly. "Stallion..." Bob said sadly. "He knew you right?" Stallion asked, turning to Bob, "He was surprised when he saw you." "Yeah, we sort of ran into each other a few times..." Bob explained, "Why?" "I have to find him... Find out why he did this and then..." Stallion didn't finish his sentence, instead he looked down at her again, beside her was the pouch she had stolen. He opened it and looked inside, there was a map, compass, some Potch and various other items. He looked at the map, Ryube Village seemed to be circled with red ink. "Do you know where he would be?" "Well... I remember overhearing that they came from around Ryube Village, but I don't think--" "I'm going to go then" Stallion said, cutting Bob off, "I'm leaving tomorrow, it was nice meeting you..." "Wait. I want to go with you." Bob closed Tiki's eyes, and got up, staring in the direction Corvus left. "My friend Fox, is heading to Ryube, and I want to settle this clan nonsense once and for all. Besides," Bob turned to Stallion and half smiled, "I could use your speed and your non stop chitchat." Stallion looked back at Bob, bewildered. Am I making a friend? Does he really want me to go with him? I hope I don’t annoy him too much! Stallion got up and shook Bob's hand. Stallion picked up the lifeless winger and brought her to her home. Toko had been waiting, when he saw Stallion holding Tiki's lifeless body, he started crying. Bob walked over, kneeled by him and looked at the young winger, forgetting the nervousness he had before. "It hurts to lose people... but you have to be strong" Bob said, hoping to encourage the young boy. Toko sniffled and looked up at Stallion, "What am I going to do, My big brother never came back and now my sister is gone..." Stallion swallowed the lump in his throat, he had tried hard not to show his sadness. He had cared for the two as if they had been his children, that's why he had stayed so long despite his excuses. "I'll take you with me..." Stallion replied, his voice raspy and his throat sore from it, "And I'll look after you until we find your brother... but first you'll have to stay here, ok? We'll take you to Kinsley, we both know he's a nice man..." The young winger nodded quietly, he didn't seem to want to speak about it, and Stallion couldn't blame him for it. Why am I so sad? I never felt this bad when my village was burnt down, or when I saw those young boys killed. So why do I feel this way?
