Stallion Chapter 3
"Gem of Ice"
(Northernmost Country Of The World (Polaris))

Stallion, after his humiliation in Kuskus Town, had headed through Highland, the heart of Harmonia, through the northern countries and finally boarded a boat towards Polaris. This was the first time he had ever been there, but it mattered little to him. But he knew of the country well, it was the northern-most country in the known settled world. This applied for humans as well as elves (at least for the ones of this continent), their was rumors that dwarves had settled the whole world and on the other continents stood high building made of iron and stone. Of course it was only rumors, but not impossible for the resourceful and scientific dwarves.

The Sindarian suffered a cruel fate for their pursuit of ultimate knowledge, their delving into the secrets of the full potential of runes led them to their own demise. And such was the fate of the dwarves, their pursuit of 'technology' and 'science' would kill them. And then the humans would follow, and then the kobolds, the wingers, and any other race that would rise from savageness into a intelligent race. However, the elves would remain the same, guardians of the forest, un--changing as they had been before and after the Sindarians rise and fall of control over the planet.

And he, with his True Holy Rune, would witness the rise and falls of civilizations in pursuit of power and knowledge.

He had arrived now, the frigid temperatures of the frozen north effected him little, as elves are very tolerant to varying weather temperatures. Below the boat, in the water was floating icebergs and a icy slush, after the long voyage the fish were now beginning to stink. Fortunately this was his stop, the men anchored the boat and lowered the ladder down so Stallion could disembark.

"Arr... ye sure ye want to go from here?" The sailor, whom was helping Stallion get off safely, asked "Ye'll be twenty miles from any civilization!"

"Don't worry" Stallion replied coolly "I'll make it to New Artica safely"

"All right mate, if ye insist, be warned though! It get extremely cold at nightfall!"

"I'll manage" Stallion answered simply, and sped off.

He was rather disappointed that he could only persuade them to go twenty miles, he really wanted to run farther. The area was a perfect test for his skills, the slippery ice; the cold, intolerable temperature; and the blinding artic winds would surely put all his abilities to the test. He had gone a mile now, yet was not tired or cold, so he continued. Another three miles went by, but he pressed on unphased, now the wind was picking up and was beginning to slow him down. But of course it was nothing that he could not handle, for he was the great Stallion of the elves.

In what seemed like no time at all, he had already arrived in the largest , southernmost city of Polaris , New Artica. Unlike in some of the previous towns he had visited, he stood out the most here, not only for his unusual blue hair or his pointy ears. But for the fact that he wore only a simple Toranian Elven outfit. Opposed to their large heavy sealskin coats, thick leather boots, hefty walrus hide pants and furry hoods. The city itself was large enough, rivaling that of Muse, Gregminister, L'Renouille or even the massive trading metropolis, Lapranco of Zexen. The streets seemed endless and hundreds of houses towered around the snowy brick road. Each house was shaped uniquely, with thick walls that not only kept the cold outside and kept the heat inside, but would also absorb heat from the special stoned roofs.

Since this area of the world was almost always covered in darkness, at every street corner stood large iron lampposts, in which burned a bright fire fueled by a rare oil. In most towns, Stallion rarely felt out of place, but here was an exception. He shared not one common trait with these people whatsoever, and because of this, he decided to explore rather than converse. After some traveling through the maze like streets he made it to a large building erected in the center of the city. When he went inside, a faint blue light glimmered out of the building.

As Stallion was looking on, a man, whom was cloaked in a thick robe, approached him and set his hand upon the elf's shoulder.

"Have you come to place your prayers upon the Gem of Ice?" The man inquired.

"No... actually I was just wandering about..." Stallion answered.

"Very well my young odd child, feel free to explore but do not go past the shut doors or touch the Gem of Ice"

Stallion nodded and continued his walking and began approaching the faint blue light. He found himself leaning against some railing ,which went around in a complete circle that surrounded a deep chasm. Suspended in air over the black abyss, was the 'Gem of Ice' letting off the faint blue light and never ceasing to rotate.

As he was about to leave, his right hand began to burn painfully, causing the blue haired elf to clutch his hand in pain. Then the True Holy Rune began to dimly light and created a beam connecting his rune and the 'Gem of Ice'. Then the 'Gem of Ice' sent a beam right down through the chasm until it's light was untraceable. After this had all occurred, the sweet sound of frigid nature hung in his ears and he could hear a soft voice speaking to him.

Stallion... Keeper of the True Holy Rune... why are you here?

Stallion jumped up and looked around fearfully "Whose there?"

Fear Not... for at this time we only exist within your mind.

"What!? Are you very tiny then?"

No... we are the True Aurora Rune...

"We?" Stallion inquired "Aurora Rune?"

We are the True Aurora Rune, known to our mortal followers as the 'Gem of Ice'. Look below you, through that seemingly endless chasm the true parts of the 'Gem of Ice' connect. On your side, we have on part, and the other side of the world, unknown to either elf or man, exists our other half. From our place we 'borrow' the power the power of the True Wind Rune to send the Frozen North Wind and the Icy South Wind.

"Yeah... so?"

Enough fool! Do you not realize why we have used our fellow brothers of the True Holy Rune to communicate with you?

"What!? Theirs... people in my rune!?"

In every one of the 'True Runes' exist entities, our entities were all one in the original Rune of Beginning before it shattered eons ago and spread across the face of this barren planet. Some of the runes fell in the hands of goof and evil men, others became objects of worship, some became weapons of power and still some lie forgotten in the forgotten territory of the Earth. Soon it will come when the creatures of this earth will reunite the True Runes... Stallion, you have been given the True Holy Rune by the spirits of the Forest at your birth, however you have manipulated it's power and have not proven yourself worthy. So thus we shall remove our brothers from your wrist unless you become a worthy keeper of the True Holy Rune.

"... so if I don't act 'good' and make this rune useful your going to take it away?"

Precisely

Stallion sighed, "Fine, I'll try..."

Off to the corner, several of the old robed men were looking at the odd pointy eared man.

"... Must be one of those southern country folk" One of them commented.
