Sid Chapter 2
"Middle of a New Day"
(Tworiver Sewers)

The tunnels of TwoRiver, never fully explored by anyone ever since it's completion years ago, with many little entrances that lead in and out. At least till Sid flew through the twisting passages that link to every household in the Human and Kobold areas. Ever since he moved here, the sewers has been kind to him. He managed to find out all the passages that line the interior of the sewers, which has, more than once, saved his life when dodging the junk that the humans and kobolds throw into when they have no better place to deal with things that were supposed to throw away.

Sid is not the only one living in these sewers though. Along with the usual assortment of mice and their predators, there is also a huge mutated rat that made it's home in one of the corners of the sewers. No sane man was crazy enough to go and disturb it, and occasionally a brave kobold would venture in to test his prowess against the rat.

None of those who tried their luck against the giant rat managed to tell the tale to others though. And Sid wasn't anywhere near suicidal enough to check out the rat, and mad as he was, he wasn't insane enough to pay the giant rat a visit. Yet. Maybe when he has a little more battle experience then he would go and poke the rat in it's rotten tail, just for kicks.

There were several exits that no one knew, that no one has bothered to find ever since TwoRiver was rebuilt around the Winghordes who came down from the mountains to reside in the middle of the city. Sid wasn't one of the early settlers, but the city has been, or rather HAD been, his home ever since he was born, and though the humans and kobolds still resent their presence, the inborn racial hatred wasn't as strong as before when the first settlers arrived.

Just like time has removed most of the hatred and prejudice between the three vastly different races, time has also made people forget things that existed within the city, lost through the generations by neglect and forgetfulness. And Sid made the most of these forgotten entrances/exits to aid him in hiding from pursuers or monsters that hide in other areas of the sewers.

One of those exits lead out to the Kobold area, near the north exit of the city. This was usually one of Sid's favourite exits, as the kobold guards are very diligent on carrying out their duties, to the fault of not noticing their backs when on the look for intruders. WAS because one pair of patrollers were scared off by his rendition of a kobold ghost out for revenge. Silly creatures as they were, the two of them ran off as fast as they could, and the area was thoroughly searched the next day. The exit was found and sealed off, but they forgot about it in a week.

And Sid, being the opportunist, immediately took advantage of their lack of concentration on the exit, and went off on another scaring and freebie spree. This day was supposed to be another one of those days where he would go about doing his 'job'.

He clambered out of the badly-sealed hole, and checked his surroundings, just in case one adventurous guard decided to venture further into his range of cover. It has never happened before, but it was better to be safe than sorry. Seeing that no one was near, he closed up the hole and flew into the tree thickets, careful not to get his wings clipped by out-reaching branches.

Flying clear of the thicket, he found himself near the outskirts of the city. Realizing that he has veered a little off course, he went up to have a clearer look at his immediate location. He wasn't used to being off-course, Winghordes having higher than their normal human sense of direction, and Sid, being one of the keener ones, never really flew off-course before, in his eyes that is.

His guess was correct: he was only a little off, which meant - to him - that he wasn't really lost. The market was just a little to the east, and at this time of the day, it wasn't really crowded. The best time for scaring a small group of kobolds. He didn't dare to frighten a large crowd in case he got stampeded by the frightened kobolds.

But before he could focus his attention to contorting his face in a strange manner, his eagle eyes spotted something glinting in the sun, not far away from the city. Curiosity got the better of sense, and he flew towards the glinting object.

What he saw nearly made him fall down from his lofty position: a mounted knight dressed all in RED, trying his best maintain his composure while resisting the advances of a certain raven-haired female, who was the pillion rider of his horse.

A knight, who looks so idiotic in red, with a female companion ......now that's something you don't get to see everyday....... Sid thought to himself, knowing full well who would be the best candidate for the poor knight, who finally managed to rid (?) himself of his fellow travellers, and moved on towards the Kobold entrance to TwoRiver.

Humming a eerie song, Sid flew off in search of his 'little brother' Chako, thinking at the same time on a new method of scaring the cowardly baby, who would never think that this was all so funny to him..........
