Shu Chapter 8
(Radat)

Shu was in his office. He was reviewing his latest trade journals. One of his workers knocked alerting him he had a visitor. "Lord Shu there is a man to see you."

"Send him in," Shu said glancing out the window. Shu took a moment to think. Could the Grog from the Highland Hawks be back? He doubted it. His men were keeping constant tabs on Grog and he was in South Window doing business. Grog would be back but not yet…

The door opened and a man entered he was dressed all in black. Shu eyed the black handle of a sword in the man's sheath.

"What can I help you with?" Shu asked brisk but politely.

"You are Shu?" the man asked with a wary expression.

"Yes," Shu replied.

"You are empty," he began. "You do not have a purpose in life."

"Do you work for the Hawks?"

The man laughed. His eyes seemed to glow red. "No…I am Laborclaw. And I see the greater picture. The Highland Hawks are just a smoke screen. You have not chosen sides yet…."

Shu looked at her, loosing his patience. "Sir?" he began.

"You have had the dreams, have you not?"

Shu suddenly became very interested. "What do you know about my dreams?"

The man drew his sword. "Only one of the prophecy will have the dreams. You can still choose the winning side. And to add the winning side is neither Highland nor Jowston!" Laborclaw began to laugh and disappeared in a flash.

"Amazing!" Shu thought. "This man had absolute control over teleportation magic."

Shu rushed out of his room downstairs. "Ronald!" Shu yelled to one of his men.

"Yes sir?" Ronald replied.

"I want you to find out everything about a man named Laborclaw and also on Teleport Wizards."

Ronald laughed. "The only one I've heard of is that dimbat Viki!"

"Listen Ronald, something major is coming and I need all the info I can get."

Ronald nodded.

The next day Shu got a full report. There wasn't very much information on Laborclaw. The only factual tidbit he could find was that he worked for a man named Stephano in Greenhill. Rumor had it that he was unmatched with a sword.

In other news Grog was returning to Radat. He would arrive by nightfall.

Shu also quickly did his actual shipping related business and ate lunch. He knew he had to come up with a quick plan to deal with Grog. He would need another swordsman.

He went by Richmond's to get any tips but Richmond was out on a case. He strolled into the inn. There were a few knew faces. He looked at them, sizing up if any of them would fit his purposes.

Then his solution walked up to him. A man in his late forties walked up to Shu. He was well built but his black hair was turning gray. He wore a green cape and had a magnificent sword strapped to his belt.

"Hi. I am Darum. I am looking for you Lord Shu."

Shu couldn't believe his luck. "Hello. Yes, I am Shu."?

"Shu I've been destined to meet you…I just know it. Do you need a swordsman?"

Shu though he was perhaps mad but at least he would fit his plans perfectly. "Well…"

That night Shu met Grog in the inn to conclude their business. Grog had two big thugs for protection.

"Welcome Shu," Grog began. "So you've agreed to join us I imagine?"

Shu smiled. "Actually, I'm hear to give you a warning."

Grog's eyes opened in amazement.

"I will not involve myself in this little war. I will not be bullied or threatened."

"I'm sorry you wouldn't play ball," Grog said. He motioned to his men. They stood up brandishing clubs. "I'm afraid you will have to die Shu."

Darum jumped from the second floor on top of the thugs. Within two seconds the men hit the ground.

Shu smiled. "Did I just make myself clear about threatening or bullying me?"

Grog looked at his fallen men. "Crystal. However I will be back and then you will help us whether you like it or not."

Grog stormed out. Darum walked up to Shu. "Well it looks like I've found the Scholar"

Shu was confused. "Huh?"

"Nothing you'll find out in good time."
