Shu Chapter 7
[Radat]

Shu was on his knees. Radat burning around him. His house going down in flames. The dead villagers were everywhere. Then he saw his enemy. They had been destined to fight each other and he knew that he had lost their epic battle. He could not remember the man's name for some reason. The man stood in black armor and had a blood red sword. He held it to Shu's throat.

"So you lose again?"

Shu coughed from the smoke. He remained silent; he had nothing to say.

The knight laughed. "See Shu…might does make right…."

Shu knew he had failed. There would be nothing that could stop him. This man had killed his beloved. He had no reason left to fight anymore. If she was dead why should he fight? Even if he had any fight left, it would be futile.

The man rose up his sword to slice Shu's head off.

Shu closed his eyes and took one last breath, knowing it would be his last. The evil blade swung down severing Shu's head from his spine.

Shu awoke with a start. He had been sweating through the night. Shu realized it had been a dream. Shu didn't exactly like dreams. Sometimes they could be relaxing. However, more often than not, he had no control and Shu hated not having control. The dream was preposterous and he had had it every night for a week. The dream made no sense to him. He had no long rivalries with anyone besides Leon Silverberg and that man was NOT Leon Silverberg. And what of a beloved? Shu loved no one.

Shu sat up and went downstairs. His maid had made him breakfast. He merely picked at it.

Shu was unhappy. The business had just keeping getting better; but the challenge was just all gone. It had been months since something interesting like that Freed situation that had occurred. Shu took a moment from his work to think about Mr. Yamamoto. He wondered what trouble had befallen the odd man.

Shu's secretary Ronald entered. Ronald had pale blonde hair and was very proud of it. Ronald stroked his head before speaking. "Shu, there is a man to see you."

Shu lifted his head. "Show him in."

A small man in a leather tunic entered. He had a rodent-shaped face and had a green cap. "Greeting Shu!" He began. "My name is Grog and I think I have a business opportunity for you."

Shu lifted his eyebrow. "What might that be?"

"Well…as you know there is open hostility between Highland and Jowston now."

Shu nodded. He had been reading casualty reports.

"Well, I am a member of a secret group called Highland Hawks. We basically want to see Highland dominant over Jowston."

"And what do you want from me?" Shu asked.

"Well, it is a well known fact you don't care who rules. You have no political loyalty to Jowston. You could supply us with boats and weapons and in exchange we could set you up in a position of power in Jowston, once we gain control."

Shu couldn't believe the audacity of this man. He looked at him in the eye. It was mostly true that he didn't care who ruled. However he had heard stories about these Highland Hawks and atrocities they caused.

Shu frowned at him. "I'll have to think about it." Shu said.

"Just realize that we Highland Hawks consider those who are not with us…are against us." Grog winked at him and stormed out.

Shu realized whatever happened, he may not outwardly "fight" the Hawks but he sure wasn't going to "help" them.
