Shu Chapter 5
"The Observer"
(Radat)

Shu awoke again. It was a usual morning. He got up and walked to his reading room. On the table he picked up a financial journal. He heard something outside the window. His eyes glanced up to see Richmond and Freed both standing in front of his window. They looked like they were waiting for something. Shu shrugged. It looked like he had two people watching him now.

One of his men knocked on the door.

"Come in!" Shu called.

His man entered with Anita in tow.

"Can I help you?" Shu asked.

"Yes, I still need somewhere to practice my skills. I've been sitting in your pub for quite some time," Anita replied.

Shu rustled through some news reports he had received. He glanced at one regarding the women disappearing at North Window.

"Well, if you'd like you can see what's happening with North Window. I am curious as to what is happening. I could pay you 300 potch if you want."

Shu was curious but mostly it was more worth his time to send her to get her out of his hair. 300 potch was worth it.

Anita looked at Shu. He kept his cool. If she sensed weakness she would increase her price. "Okay Shu, you have a deal."

Shu gave a faint smile. "Alright so, leave whenever you are ready and I'll pay you when you return."

Anita nodded and left. Shu sat back down. He had an appointment at the docks with a trader after lunch. He decided to read till then.

On the way to the appointment As Shu was walking he noticed a shadow. Freed was following him for some reason. Freed kept turning around to make it appear that he wasn't however it was quite obvious that Freed was tailing him for some reason. Freed wasn't too bad of a spy however Shu was more observant then most people. Shu turned around an approached Freed.

"Good afternoon," Shu said.

Freed got nervous. "Um... Good afternoon," Freed replied.

"Could I help you with something, Freed?"

"Uh... no, I'm, just on a walk."

"Freed, just come out and say it, what do you want?"

Freed looked flustered. "Nothing, I don't need anything, Mr. Shu Sir."

Freed turned around and left. Shu shrugged.

Hours later Shu was contemplating why Freed was following him earlier. It was odd. Shu saw Richmond. He'd know.

Shu walked over and handed him 150 potch. "Richmond, why is Freed following me?"

"He wants to see why you sent that guy to Lord Granmeyer."

Shu kept silent. He doubted Lord Granmeyer would send Freed for that. In all probability it was a way of getting Freed to take a vacation. Still Shu didn't want Freed finding out that the guy was Lord McDohl. Freed would probably want the man's head on a pike. Shu would have to find a way to rid himself of Freed....
