The Sugar Deal Act 3 (Radat) Shu stood by the sluice gate. Amada stood in front of him. "Amada, I'd like your help in getting the Kuskan sailors to lower their price. It's important." Amada gave a hearty laugh. Then he stared into Shu's eyes. "Now, Shu. If I were to help you, I would need to see your devotion. I'd need to see a demonstration, of strength." "A duel?" Amada nodded. "Hix!" Shu called out. There was silence. Then Shu heard Tengaar cry, "Move it Hix!" She pushed him near Amada. "Uh..." Hix began. "I want you to help Shu get his prices lowered." "Are you willing to duel me, 1 on 1? I must to see your strength." Hix looked back to where Tengaar was standing, away from the sluice gate. She glared at him. He turned back to Amada. "Yeah. Yes Mr. Amada, I am." Shu stepped by to watch the duel begin. He kept his cool. He was interested to know if Hix could really beat the big sailor. Amada readied himself with his oar and yelled out, "Come on boy show me what you got!" Shu predicted Amada's move would be a defensive one. Duelers would always give some clue as to their intentions. Hix charged at Amada with all his might. That was a very bad move considering that Amada was ready for him. Amada knocked him back. Hix shook his head. "If 'ya liked that I'll give you some more!" Amada yelled out. Hix readied himself. Shu chuckled to himself. He saw what was coming. It was the exact opposite of what had just happened. Amada charged at Hix with all of his might and Hix was prepared. This time Amada sailed back. Shu was pleased that Hix had figured out Amada's move. Amada regained his stance. "Pretty good how about another test?" Amada yelled out. Hix charged at Amada. Hix's full strength vs. Amada's puny blow resulted in Amada loosing his stance again. The duel was going well. Tengaar yelled at Hix, "Come on Hix! Fight harder!" Beneath her tone, Shu could tell she was very proud in her man. "Dammit!!! I might lose this one!!!" Amada said under his breath. "Oh..." Shu thought. If Hix did another full charge, he would lose. Amada was defending! Shu watched as Hix charged at Amada. But then he saw a little gleam in the crafty warrior's eye. Amada prepared to block a monumentous attack and was promptly surprised when Hix slowed down and the hilt of Hix's sword connected with Amada's head. Amada sailed back. He was down. Hix had one. Tengaar rushed over and hugged Hix. There wasn't much to the hug because then she walked over to Shu. "See, I told you Hix wouldn't lose!" Hix walked over and helped Amada up. Amada held his head. Shu was quite pleased. Later Hix, Tengaar, Shu and Hix were in the cafe. Amada had an ice bag over his head. "So, Shu I got a response from my sailor friends. They agreed to lower their price to the amount you requested." Shu turned to Hix and Tengaar. "I have this letter to a ship captain in Kuskus. He ferries goods for me. The letter requests that he allow you to travel to Lakewest with him." "Thanks," Hix said. "Now, before you two are on your way, did you ever meet General Flik?" "Sure, we fought with him in the Gate Rune War," Hix said. "His sword's name was called Odessa do you know why?" Tengaar thought for a moment. "Yeah, I think it was after Odessa Silverberg. Lord Mathiu's sister." "Ah, I see..." Shu said. "How was Mathiu before he died?" "Well, he was... Lord Mathiu," Hix said. "He was always very kind, yet very smart," Tengaar added. "Yes, well, I hope to see you in the future," Shu said standing up. He walked for the door. "Wait!" Tengaar cried, standing up. "You seem a lot like Lord Mathiu. Did you know him?" "A long time ago. I don't know if I really knew him though," Shu said. He left the building; leaving Tengaar, Hix and Amada very confused. Later, Shu sat alone in his office. He had won. The representative from Kuskus was happy. Shu, himself had gotten what he wanted. He had come out ahead, like he always did. Long ago Master Mathiu had told him winning wasn't everything. He was starting to understand that. He could tell a war was going to come soon. What did the future bring?
