Seed Prologue
"The True Knight Rune"
(Harmonia)

Seed's steel blade and his fathers oak staff met each other with a burst of power. The next thing the young man knew was his sword was knocked out of his grip and the tip of the staff was brought behind his knees forcing him to the ground. Regaining his balance Seed pushed aside a lock of hair and stood up. "Your sword skills are improving son." Came a calm gentle voice.

"That may be so, but obviously not enough to beat you father" replied the boy.

The man knelt down, "Seed, your skills with the sword are great, but to be a true knight you must learn to use your head as well as your blade." He replied in the same calm voice.

Seed placed the small training sword in his belt and walked inside the Inn. Another young man was standing in the corner. "Don't people knock anymore?" Seed asked, trying to act annoyed and hide that fact that he was glad to see him.

Krugan smiled and replied, "Well, I just thought I would let myself in and take all of your food."

"Tch," Seed said as he raised his hand and looked the other way. "So seriously, what brings you to my house?" He asked.

"hmph," Krugan sighed. "My parents are at it again, telling me to get out of the house well they fight as usual. Father told me to leave the house and not come back, and that's exactly what I'm going to do." Krugan walked over to the table and poured himself a cup of tea then sat down at the table.

Seed sat down on a stool, "well buisness here at the inn has been somewhat slow, I'm sure my parents will let you stay here as long as you like." Poor Krugan he thought. I've met his parents, and they aren't the most pleasant of people. He didn't blame him for wanting to get out of there. Hell if the situation was reversed, I would be doing the same thing. Seed poured himself a cup of tea hoping to avoid this awkward moment of conversation. As he placed the tea pitcher back on the table, his mother came rushing in.

"Glen!" She yelled." Seed's father came rushing down from upstairs.

"What is it Sara?" Replied his father.

"I just got some information about the Sindar cave in the south." She said as she caught her breath.

"Take it easy my dear, what about the Sindar cave?" Glen asked, handing her a glass of water.

"The enterance that they say was sealed for centuries has mysteriously opened. If we hurry, we can be the first ones there!"

Glen turned to Seed, "Son, we're going to be gone for awhile, please look after the inn for me."

Seed nodded, "Alright father," He pasused for a moment. "Oh, and what if the public health inspector comes to look at the food stores?"

Glen smiled. "Oh damn, I forgot all about that. Kill him!"

Seed stood up and smirked, "will do".

Hours passed, day became night. Rain drops pelted the roof of the family Inn. The odd crackle of thunder plagued the Harmonian sky. Clouds and fog as thick as pea soup. It was a bloody good thing that the Tea and Chinchorin was holding up, because Seed and Krugan were starting to get bored. More hours passed, and the two were getting extreamly bored.

"Heh Seed, do you want to go to that Sindar cave your parents were talking about?" Asked Krugan.

Seed looked up from the bottom of the Chinchorin bowl. "Not really, they should be back soon." Seed then continued to stare at the bottom of the Chinchorin bowl.

"Do you really find staring at that damn bowl so facinating?" Krugan asked.

"I'm not staring at the bowl Krugan." Seed replied, then went silent. "The bowl is staring at me"

Krugan looked back almost as if he was punched in the face. "Hmm..."

Another hour or so passed...

Seed had fallen asleep, resting his head on his arm. Krugan leaned back rubbbing his eyes, desperatly trying to stay awake. Suddenly Seed shocked out of his sleep as he heard three loud knocks at the inn door. Seed walked over to the bar and grabbed his dagger then walked back towards the door. "We're closed!" He shouted.

"Please Seed!" Came a man's voice. "It's cold out here, let me in!" Seed placed his arm behind his back still holding the dagger. Then opened the door, A tall man with a sword on his belt walked into the inn.

"Who are you!" Seed demanded.

"My name is Duncan, I was a friend of your mother and father." The middle-aged man replied.

"What do you mean you were?" Seed asked

The man walked over towards the fire and took off his jacket. "I'm sorry young Seed, but."

"But what" He asked.

The man looked over at Krugan, then at Seed. "Your...parents were killed when the Sindar cave colapsed." replied Duncan.

Seed looked up as he dropped the dagger on the floor and stumbled over to a chair.

Krugan walked over to Seed, "I'm sorry, if you need me I'll be out for a walk." He walked past Duncan and out the door, closing it behind him.

Seed raised his arm waving Duncan away. "Please leave, I want to be alone."

"I understand," Duncan replied. "But first, here." Duncan untied his belt and handed it to Seed. "This belonged to your father, he loved this sword. I think he wanted you to have it." A few awkward seconds passed. "Oh, and this." Duncan opened a small bag that started to glow. "What?" Duncan said confused.

An object flew out of the bag and attached itself to Seed's arm, creating a red aura around his body. Seed's arm raised into the air as the aura lifted. "What was that!?" Seed shouted. "And what was that just disapeared?"

"I don't understand it" Duncan replied. I took it to one of the priests at the temple. "He recognized it as the True Knight Rune The Power of the Sindar It is completly unknown to the priests. And it's power appears to be dormant."

"That's an interesting story, but where did you find it? And why give it to me?"

"After we cleared the rubble, we found your father holding onto it. As for why it chose you, I don't know. But, I fear I have overstayed my welcome. Oh, and this Inn now belongs to me."

Seed turned around and stared at Duncan. "You aren't really a friend of my father are you?"

Duncan sighed. "No, I'm not. The part about the sword and the rune is true. So I gave them to you hoping that you would leave quietly. I tried to avoid this, but you are the last living member of your family. I must have you killed."

Seed hung his head in a disgusted manor then reached for his fathers sword.

"Just wait a moment," Duncan said as he snapped his fingers. Another man came walking into the inn with his sword drawn. "I'll give you ten seconds to leave this inn."

Suddenly the door flew open as Krugan stepped through. "Such a negative personality you gentlemen have." He said with a smirk

Duncan signed. "I'll take Seed, you take care of this whelp." The other man tossed Duncan a sword.

"Krugan, you're late!" Seed yelled as he tossed Krugan his fathers training staff while pulling out his own sword.

Duncan came charging towards the young Seed. Seed jumped back as the sword sliced towards his chest. Seed then raised the sword and made a blow towards his head, the first blow missed, but with a quick reflex, he brought it down slightly cutting Duncan's chest. Duncan was shocked that this boy had dealt a succesful blow. Blood started dripping down his stomach. Seed lowered the sword and knocked Duncan's sword out of his fist. Duncan fell to his knees. Seed then lined up his sword and ran him through. Duncan colapsed and fell on his back and died shortly after.

The other man was on the ground with two broken ribs. Seed placed his sword to the man's throat. "Leave, if you want to keep your head intact." The large man got to his feet and ran out the front door.

"Are you alright Seed?" Asked Krugan while putting the staff on the table.

Seed was just about to open his mouth when he started to feel weak. Seed then fell to the ground...

<<???>>

"Seed?...Seed?...Wake up Seed" Came a mysterious voice, but at the same time familiar.

"What?" Asked seed as he woke up. Where am I? What is this place?

"You are in limbo, the state between life and death. The new home of the Sindar." The mysterios voice hissed.

"What am I doing here?" He asked

"I can't talk to you for long, I'm using all my power to keep you here. But I have to tell you that the rune on you left hand has a sealed power. You won't be able to call upon it, but in time of need it's power will surface and then go dormant agian."

"Why did it chose me?!" Seed demanded.

"I can't hold you here for much longer, but..."

<<Back in Harmonia>>

Seed awoke staring at the awful ceiling of his inn. "What happned?" He asked confused.

"You colapsed, but we don't have time. The palace soldiers are looking for us. We need to get out of here." Krugan told him.

"Why are the soldiers looking for us?" the confused Seed asked.

"That merc that we let go told them that we murdered Duncan." Krugan replied.

What just happned, was I really in limbo? Oh well, It's too much for me to try comprehend right now"Alright, let's get out of here. But where are we going to go?"

"I'm not sure, The Scarlet Moon Empire, Kannakan, Zexen?" Krugan asked

"How about Highland?" Seed repied.

"Highland eh? Alright, that's one beautiful country. Let's go"

The two left the inn and ran down the main road towards the city gate. "Who goes there!" yelled a Harmonian guard.

The two ran as fast as the could, and out the town gate before the soldiers could catch them.
