Marco Chapter 1
"Unwelcome Meeting"
(Toto)

Aaahhh.... nothing like the sound of young lowlifes to feel secure of one's position. Especially when one is rich as an Atreides. Despite Marco's tender age of 13, he felt that his age didn't matter. His social status is everything.

Toto just happened to be on the way to Muse. Marco couldn't avoid going around, not that it mattered. He's been to Toto plenty of times. Of course the children were happy to see Marco upon arrival. Why shouldn't they? Lowlifes should respect their superiors.

"Greetings, peasants!" Marco smirked. "Thank you for staring in awe at my presence."

The group of children hopped excitedly. "Bwother Marco! Bwother Marco! Can you pway wif us? Pwease?"

Tch. These lowlifes don't know who they're talking to.

"Address me with respect, peasants! I am the great Marco Atreides. Show proper respect and kneel before my presence."

"Pwease? Pretty pwease?" the kids begged, tugging on Marco's sleeve.

"Hands off me, peasants!"

The children would have been in tears if it weren't for the fact they've seen Marco so many times. "Brother Marco's talking funny again." they chimed and ran off to play.

Marco sniffed, brushing the germs off his sleeve. "Hmph. Lowlifes."

"My, isn't it little Marco?"

Oh no, not THAT peasant! Marco frowned in alarm. The last people on earth he wanted to see - the family of Pilika. Specifically the mother, Joanna.

"Watch your mouth, woman." Marco snapped. "A low class citizen such as yourself should deem me with proper respect."

Joanna chuckled. "Still have that superiority complex, don't you, little Marco. How is your brother, Jowy?"

Jowy? JOWY? She DARES speak his blasphemous name in my ears? She dares to associate him with me? She dares to ask about HIM before ME?!

"Still wasting his time in that stupid Unicorn Brigade, I suppose." he said unaware of the sadness creeping through his voice.

"Dear me. I do hope Jowy is all right. After all, I wouldn't dare think of any bad that could happen to a wonderful young man like your brother. And poor Pilika, if he's hurt she will be so crestfallen. She loves him so much. It's as if Jowy is a member of our family."

I don't want to hear anymore.

"Listen, woman. I have to go to Muse on important business. You're wasting my time." Marco growled.

"Oh dear, I'm so sorry." said Joanna. "Do be on your way. Be careful, and say hello to your brother when he returns!"

Tch, that lowlife. Not that I care.

He watched Joanna return to her sty. He wished that he didn't have to put up with his brother-loving family every single visit. What do they see in him anyway? I have all the money, all the wealth and power my stupid brother doesn't appreciate. Bunch of peasants don't know a true man when they see one.

Placing that horrid incident behind him, he continued onward to Muse.
