"Last night in Muse" Lorelai and Yori entered the tavern too find Zareth sitting at a table enjoying a meal. She slowly made her way over to him through the crowded tavern. There seemed to be some kind of commotion concerning a mugging but that didn’t concern her. She sat at the table and set her belongings on the floor. “Hello Zareth.” Her voice was flat and monotone. She didn’t want to seem too eager to travel with him. “Hello Lorelai.” Zareth wasn’t exactly the fountain of emotion either. He knew what she was here for. “So let me guess… You’ve changed your mind about traveling to Greenhill with me.” He smiled slightly at her as he said this. “Yeah. It was almost like I had a hunch I should travel with you. So..” A waiter interrupted Lorelai’s statement by bringing a drink over. “Who’s this from?” The waiter motioned over to the bar. “That young lady over there ordered it for you” Lorelai had to stifle a laugh as she recognized the “lady”. “Thank you. Excuse me for a moment Zareth.” Lorelai walked across the tavern to the bar and approached the “lady” who was talking to a rather attractive woman. “Hello Sheena.” “Lorelai, how are you doing? I saw you come in and thought you could use a drink!” Sheena smiled up at Lorelai, who was obviously infuriated. “How have you been Sheena?” An evil smile played across her face. “I’ve got someone I’d like you to meet.” “Really? Is she cute?” “She has a little polish..” Lorelai ran her hands through Sheena’s hair, and cupped the back of his head. “Sheena, meet the bar.” WHAM! Sheena’s face crashed into the bar. “Bar, this is the Sheena.” Lorelai smirked and returned to her table, but glanced over her shoulder to see Sheena’s companion throw her drink in his face. She sat at the table, Zareth had a smile on his face and Yori looked shocked. “Geez Lorelai, that was cold.” Yori said in a scolding tone. Lorelai smiled back. “No Yori, it would have been cold if I had broken his nose. And after seeing that you had better realize you have no right to complain about how I treat you.” Lorelai’s smile widened. “So am I to assume you are traveling with me.” Zareth’s smile had disappeared. “Yes.” “Fine, but I have one condition.” “Name it.” Lorelai had a frown on her face. She never liked conditions. “We’re leaving Yori behind. He’ll just slow us down.”
Lorelai stood up and put a hand on Yori’s message “Ok.” Yori spun around. “ You can’t be serious. After all we’ve been through?” “All we’ve been through? I’ve fought wars with people. We haven’t been through anything.” Yori just fell silent, and then left the tavern. “So Zareth, you’ll be ready by morning?” “Of course. We’ll leave at daybreak.” “Good.” And Lorelai left the bar.
Huan examined the corpse in front of him. This wasn’t your typical mugging. Then there was a knock at the door. He left the room to find Tuta sitting on a bench. “Did you find anything?” Tuta leapt to his feet. “There was no money missing from the guy. The only strange thing about him was he used to live in the Toran Republic. I think he might have been involved in the Gate-Rune war, but I’m not sure.” “That is all Tuta. You better get some rest.” Tuta left Huan to his thoughts. “Looks like some one has an axe to grind.” He glanced
over at the body. “I just hope they don’t make this a
habit.”
Yori sat on the roof of the inn. “You’re positive it’s gonna be those two.” The glow from his right hand responded. “Yes.” “Damn… I wanted more time to train.” Yori looked down solemnly at the rune on his hand. “She told you not to follow her. So don’t. Let her handle it herself.” “…….” “You’re going to follow her anyway, aren’t you?” The rune glowed even brighter. “Yep. But I think I’m gonna need help.” Yori slid off the roof and down the drainpipe. “And I think I know just the person.”
