Long Chan-Chan Chapter 3
"Temple of Darkness"
(Travelling to Harmonia, currently near Muse)

When we left off, Long Chan-Chan had been sleeping on the streets of South Window. He then, with the help of Kam, tried to join the Temple of the Silver Moon to investigate them. After his qualifying fight, though, he was put under a mind control spell by Lord Jeju Harmonai, a high ranking Harmonian magician. So, Long had no choice but to go with him and to be a part of his personal, elite, martial artists, the Black Star squad.

Long Chan-Chan had been travelling with the Silver Temple people for about two months now. They had travelled to Kuskus, Coronet, and were currently near Muse. He found it discomforting that his body was under the complete control of Lord Jeju, the old Silver Moon man, but his mind was still his. The only good point about all this, was that Jarreth Youngsfried was beginning to get suspicious about Long's recent behaviour, so he might soon find out about his mind control problem.

Long was currently sitting around a table in one of the Silver Moon tents. He was seated across from Jeju, Lyonel and three others including Jarreth. These were his elite soldiers. His Black Star squad.

"So, once we get back, I'll introduce you to Lord Sasarai. He'll be pleased with my new aqusitions" said Jeju, smiling at Long. "Though, you may not have time to meet with his exellency. Yes, I'll be sending you on a mission, right away. To Toran. I need you to find a certain young man for me. He is a con-artist, who happens to have conned some highly ranked Harmonian beaurocrats. He goes by the name of Drake Farloking. I'll send you, because I know you can do it. And if you find him, kill him."

'Not Drake!' thought Long. He didn't like the guy, but he didn't deserve to be killed for his cons. Long wished he could control himself right now, to tell Jeju just where he could stick this mission, but there was nothing he could do.

The men nodded at their leader and left the tent. All but Long, who remained behind. Not like he had a choice, anyways.

"So, my pet. I felt how you reacted when I mentioned Drake. You know him. Open your mind to me, so that I may see what you know of him" said Jeju. "Don't fight, Long. I don't want to hurt you."

Long fought him anyway. He focused all his mental power on that one task. Unfortunately, Jeju was more powerful, and he tore right through Long's defences. Long tried to scream, but he could not.

All of his memories of Drake floated through. He saw Drake, practicing with Wakaba when they were younger. He saw Drake plant a kiss on Wakaba's cheek, and she looked mildly desgusted at that. He saw Wakaba saying goodbye to Drake, when she and Long headed for the City-States. He saw Drake, as a full grown man, standing at the entrance to the restaurant in South Window. He saw the letter Drake had written him telling Long of the con. Then, he saw Drake dead at his hands, because of what Jeju was making him do. Then, he saw Wakaba, standing over Drake's body, crying, but still challenging her former master to a fight. Then he saw his hands full of Wakaba's blood. He saw his mind, being ripped to shreds by Jeju, when his task was over.

"NOOOOOOOO!" yelled Long, as he got up, and threw the table on the floor. "I've had enough of you old man. You think you can break me by planting those images in my head!? You'll never break me. I'm much, much stronger than you. And now I know it."

With that, he sent a massive amount of rage through their telpathic link. Jeju went flying through the tent and on to the ground. The Silver Moon people watched as Long walked over to Jeju and picked up his smoking body.

"I'll never hurt Wakaba. I'll never hurt Drake. But, you can be sure, that I will definetly hurt you!" he yelled, and with that he threw Jeju's body twenty feet away, and it landed on a large rock. A snapping sound was heard, and everyone knew that Jeju's back was broken. Long rushed over to Jeju and punched him numerous times in the chest.

"I (punch) hate (punch) you (punch)! Eat this!" he said, and then he performed his Star Lightning Kick on Jeju. "Die vermin!"

Jeju's body didn't explode, though. He was too powerful to explode. He simply died, then and there. Long stood over his dead body, and calmed down. It was finally over. The two months of torture was over. And everyone knew, because he had broadcasted it all telepathically to the entire group when he was connected to Jeju, during those last few moments. He turned to the others, and saw that they had all entered battle stances. Long turned, reached down, and grabbed the Mind Control rune from Jeju's smoking body. He couldn't use it, but it may prove useful. He got up and walked over to the group.

"Leave me alone" he said, as one of them grabbed him.

"Get him!" yelled Lyonel.

They all charged after him. He took up his fighting stance. The first few were simple to take down, but seven at once, or eight at once was getting difficult. He fought on, though. Through punches and kicks, he took breaths, and launched his own attacks. He was fighting like a machine! Never had he felt so envigorated. Maybe, this was what he was searching for. His perfect state of mind, was thinking of his friends. Protecting his friends. Or, maybe it was just some of the residual energy from Kam's boost up, or from Jeju's control.

Finally, only the Black Star squad remained. Lyonel stood in the middle, with the other three flanking him. He pointed to Long, and they charged, but Lyonel held back. Then, Jarreth did somthing unexpected. He lashed out at the nearest squad member and connected solodly with his head. He went down, unconcious as he was. Long dispatched the other immediately. Long and Jarreth stood side-by-side while staring at Lyonel.

"Give up" said Long.

"Never!" yelled Lyonel.

"Then time for my revenge!" said Lyonel. He threw back his hood and Lyonel gasped. "That's right Lyonel. Remember me? My brother, maybe? We were the Twin Dragons. The best fighters in Two-River. Then you came. You murdered him when he declined your offer to join the Temple of the Silver Moon. Now, I'm back to get even!"

Lyonel looked worried. He raised his hands and sighed.

"I give up. Go leave this place. But remember. You can't run from me forever. I'll get my revenge."

With that Lyonel threw a ball on the ground. It blew up, and threw smoke evrywhere. When the smoke cleared, Lyonel had disapeared into the woods. Long turned to Jarreth and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry for what happened to your brother. But, if you like, you can come to Forest Village with me" he said.

"Why not?" said Jarreth. "It would be a nice change of pace. Besides, if we travel enough, we could always run into Lyonel again, right?"

Long nodded. He turned and walked away from the camp. Jarreth followed close behind.

"Besides, I've been looking for a master to finish my training, since my brother died, and you're a good fighter" said Jarreth.

"Yeah, I'll train you" said Long. "I'haven't had an apprentice since Wakaba, No, wait there was Mukumuku. But still, I warn you, I may be a bit rusty" answered Long.

"I doubt that. From what I saw in that flash back there, you did just fine with Wakaba" said Jarreth.

"Thanks" said Long.
