"Blood" (somewhere between Greenhill and Rockaxe) "Hee-yah!" Koyu pulled the reigns of the horse back. The steed dragged his back feet into the ground, pulled up his front ones and whinnied. Koyu jumped off. The night was crystal clear. The moon shone brilliantly in the darkness, the stars piercing the black skies with light. Koyu was ready to camp out for the night. He had spent the early half of the evening helping those other bandits escape, and the other half just running around in the darkness. He wasn't sure exactily where he was headed, but as long as it was far away from Greenhill, it didn't really matter. Koyu began to tie the reigns of the horse around the tree. As he knotted them, he looked at the horse. It's head was hanging rather low. "I bet you're thirsty." Koyu said to the horse. He stopped tieing the reins and began to unknot them. "Come on, let's get you some water." "Stop it! You're killing him!" Thump. "Leave us alone!" The flowing lake Koyu had found was the only audible noise in the area. That, and the horse quietly drinking away. "That's right, drink up." He patted the horse. Koyu took out the sword he had swiped from the bandits eariler. He thought about just tossing it in the lake, but decided against it. Koyu then thought about pawning the blade, but realized that the sword is too valuable. Not exactily sure what to do with it, he simply put it back in the horse's pouch. The horse lifted its head, signaling that it was finished. "You're done, boy?" He patted the horse's snout. It nodded, as if it understood. "Alright. Let's find us a place to sleep." He grabbed the horses reigns and pulled. The horse wouldn't budge. "What's wrong?" Koyu asked, pulling the reigns again. It still wouldn't move. It shook is head, rattling its harness. Koyu began to unfasten the harness. "I understand. You don't like being caged up, do you? I don't blame you." He unlocked the last hinge and slowly pulled the harness and the reigns off the horse. The horse raised its two front feet up in the air and whinnyed, showing his approval. Koyu smiled. Drip. "Do it! I SAID DO IT!" Drip. Rage, controlled anger, manifested in power. Rage, a primative urge to show ones destructive force. Fire. Heat, warmth, and coziness. Fire. Leathal, destructive, and painful. Koyu sat down and leaned against the tree. Realizing that the horse would be fine, his mind began to wander. He looked at his rune on his hand. It was a rage rune, one he had found a year or two ago. He was so proud of himself the day he found it. He never had a rune before that, so it was his first. Of course, the other Lampdragons didn't like that too much. They'd rather Koyu steal the rune, naturally. Finding it didn't mean anything. Any lucky joe can FIND something. Stealing a rune would mean that he had to come up with a crafty scheme to get the rune somehow, and sieze in such a manner that the owner wouldn't notice. Koyu didn't care though. A rune is a rune. It doesn't care whose bearer it is. While Koyu didn't have exceptional magic abilities, he was happy with what he could do, and what he hopes to do in the future. Soon after thinking about his rune, he fell asleep. The boy looked into the window of his old house. He recognized the two immediately. The woman was still screaming and crying, the man still abusing her. This time, the boy would take the pain and suffering no more. He would settle this. The boy kicked open the door. The woman stopped her crying, and the man stopped hitting her. Both looked over at the young man standing in the doorway. "Who the hell are you?" The man sneered at him. The boy swung his club at the man. It landed with a clear "thump", and caused the man to lose his balance. He landed flat on his behind. The boy raised the club again, and belted the man in the stomach. He winced as he dragged himself over to the stove and crouched against it. "Stop it! You're killing him!" Thump. "Leave us alone!" The boy looked over at the woman. He was dumbfounded. He sat there with an open mouth. "Don't you recognize me?" The woman stoped the hysterics and looked at the boy. She shook her head. "Ma?" "Who are you?" "It's me! Come on, Ma! It's Koyu!" He went over to her and grabbed her hand. He put it on his face. "Remember?" He tried to sing his favorite lullaby, blubbering the entire time. He lost the last few works, since he was extremely choked up. She shook her head no. "I didn't give birth to a monster like you! "So..." The man in the corner sneered. "Loser boy son comes home to kill his old man. HA! Well, finish me off!" Koyu looked at his blood-covered hands. It was a deep maroon color, and it was cold. He blankly stared at them as it dripped off. Drip. "Do it! I SAID DO IT!" Drip. "Figures! Loser boy son can't even finish his old man! You know why? I gave birth to a LOSER! MY SON, THE LOSER!" He shouted as loud as he could. With a loud shout, the boy raised the club a final time. Koyu jumped up immediately. He looked around, and realized his surroundings. He just ran from Rockaxe, swiped some bandit's sword, and is on his way back to Greenhill. He scrambled for his axe. He put the blade right up to his neck. "Come on, Koyu. Just slice your neck. Come on. You can kill your father CAN'T YOU? JUST DO IT!" The axe didn't move With a shout, Koyu threw the axe away. He began to cry into his hands.
