"A Modern Day Robin Hood" (On the Path between Rockaxe and Highway Village) Koyu sat in the tree, eyeing his prey. He shifted his place around in the tree, making as little noise as possible. "The entourage should be coming this way. I'm gonna make a killing in this strike." Koyu looked up again. A carriage was trotting down the road, at a graceful pace. "Target spotted. Right on schedule." Koyu smiled a gigantic smile, his trademark. The carriage was heading towards Rockaxe. The two horses pulling the unit trotted along at a graceful pace. The driver sat in front, whipping the two horses occasionally. The passengers in the unit were hidden from Koyu's view. "Come on, just a little closer." Koyu gripped the handle of his axe, bouncing up and down with impatience. He began to lick the lower of his lip in anticipation as the carriage began to get closer and closer towards him. Koyu's eyes were widening ever so slightly, his prey coming towards him, unaware of the danger they were about to be put in. The carriage continued to trot up the road, constant in its pace. Innocent in its ways, it didn't think that it was in any danger nor were they expecting any. There weren't even any Matildan knights guarding the carriage, making it that much more of a target. They started to pass under the tree Koyu was in. Koyu let out a shout, and jumped down from the tree, startling the two horses. He landed perfectly on one of the horses. In a flurry of excitement, Koyu took his axe and cut the ropes binding the horses to the carriage unit. He turned his axe a bit and used the flat end to strike the other horse on the rear end. It whinnied, and started to run off. Koyu grabbed the other rope and turned the horse around. "A bandit!" The driver said, standing up on the carriage. He raised his whip and lashed it Koyu. Koyu held out his wrist, causing the whip to wrap around it. Taking his other hand, he yanked on the whip, causing the driver to go flying from atop the carriage. He switched his axe hand and the hand holding the whip. Taking the whip, he whipped the driver while he was on the ground. "Shame on you, whipping innocent horses like that. Kiss this horse and apologize." Koyu demanded as he looked at the driver. The driver stood up and looked up at Koyu on the horse. "Go to hell, he sneered." He held up his two fists. Koyu brought down the whip and whipped the driver again, marking his face. "Now, think about that. That's what you're doing to the horse." Koyu grabbed the reigns and turned the horse around. "Kiss him and apologize, or you'll get another one." Koyu held up the whip, taunting the driver. The driver made a face as he puckered up. He kissed the horse on the snout of his face. Koyu gave a trademark wink and smiled. "Now, get!" He whipped the driver one more time. The driver started to run towards Rockaxe. Koyu trotted the horse towards the carriage. He peeked in the window, and saw a man and women, head in-between their legs. "Hello!" The two jumped and screamed. They hugged each other in absolute terror. "Aw, come on now. I'm not gonna hurt ya." Koyu gave a big smile. "I just want to take any money you've got on ya. "Just leave us alone!" The man shouted at Koyu. Koyu moved his head back a little. "Mista, I didn't go through all this trouble just to give you a little tease. Now come on, give me your wallet and your purse, so things don't have to get dirty." "I know knights in Matilda! They'll never let you get away with this, you dirty bandit!" The woman stuttered. "Okay, no more jokes. Give me your money now, or I'm going to have to get rough." Koyu dropped the smile and showed them his axe. The couple screamed at the sight of Koyu's axe. The woman threw her purse out the window. The man dug in his back pocket and hurtled his wallet out the window as well. Koyu smiled again as he got off the horse and picked up the purse and wallet. Sifting through them, he pocketed about three-thousand potch. Getting up on the horse again, he turned to the window of the carriage. "Thanks a lot, you guys." Koyu winked and smiled. Nudging the horse with his feet, the horse galloped down the road and to Highway Village. "That'll be 100 potch, young man." The clerk at the counter told Koyu. Koyu dug in his pocket and pulled out five hundred potch. "Here. Take this. This should pay for the room. Also, you can have the horse outside; I don't need him anymore. I'll be back in a few." "Thank you!" The clerk stuttered. "The best room at the inn for you!" Koyu winked and smiled at the clerk. He turned around and walked out of the inn. As Koyu walked down the path of Highway Village, he looked the poor poverty-stricken town. Most of the residents were farmers, who sold there wares to passers-by. Few would travel to Rockaxe to do their trading, and no one would go to the border to go to Muse. Koyu started to think about his life in Tinto, with the Lampdragon Bandits, and with Lo Wen and Gijimu. Koyu shook his head and pushed it out of his head. Koyu's ears picked up as he passed by this one house. It was a very distinct sound. It sounds the sound of a little boy crying. Koyu sneaked to the house and dunked beneath its window. He tuned into the conversation going on. "Daddy's entire crop was ruined!" The boy continued to cry. The mothers voice consoled his son. "Don't worry, it'll be okay." "But we're not gonna have any money! We won't have anything to eat!" The boy continued to cry. Koyu's heart sank. He thought about the boy and the mother. The thought of them starving hit Koyu hard. I can't leave them like this. Koyu walked in front of the house, and found four sacks. He opened one of them, and made a face. The stench of rotten vegetables reeked the bag. Koyu immediately dumped them out. He took out the money he had stolen from the aristocrats earlier and looked at it. He put a few hundred potch back in his pocket, and put the rest in the sack. Koyu tied up the bag and went back to the window. He threw the sack in the window. The mother went over to the sack and opened it and found the potch. She gasped. "It's a miracle!" The boy went over to the bag as well, and pulled out a handful of potch. "We're saved!" "But who would do such a thing?" The woman looked at her son and asked. The boy shrugged. Turning her head to where the sack came from, she walked over to the window and stuck her head out. But Koyu had already disappeared.
