Klaus Chapter 1
"Another Day"
(Greenhill)

[Flashback, L'Renouille]

"Son!" Kiba bellowed. "Come here. I want to talk with you."

"Yes, father?" Klaus obediently trotted over.

"Our army is under orders to take over Tworiver." Kiba explained. "As you already know, Tworiver's army is very strong. Ridley is an opponent not to underestimate. Therefore, I want you to infiltrate Tworiver's army. Gather as much information on their strategy, their number of men, and their overall strength in battle and report it to me."

"Yes, father."

"Very good. Please make preparations to depart tomorrow. I will be waiting for you."

Klaus coughed. "Father, will all due respect, I believe it's better that I be transferred to Greenhill."

Kiba raised his eyebrows. "Greenhill? What for?"

"Because if I am stationed directly at Tworiver, the civilians may become suspicious of me." Klaus replied. He refrained from telling the whole truth, figuring if he told his reasons, his father will not allow him to go.

Kiba furrowed his eyebrows. "All right, Klaus. You may go to Greenhill."

"Thank you father."

"I expect a full report as soon as possible. Be careful, son."

Klaus looked back, giving a small smile before leaving.

'Yes father. I'm willing to help out in any way that I can, father. But sometimes, I wonder what it would be like to have mother around. Would my life be different? I can't imagine otherwise. What was mother even like...?'

"Klaus-kuuuunnnnnnnn!!!"

*****

Klaus woke up from his daydream. He was back in reality. Namely Greenhill Academy study hall. A cute teenage girl with long brown hair stared at him eye to eye.

"Klaus-kuuuunnnn," she whined with sad puppy eyes. "I'm having problems with this homework. Can you help me?"

Klaus smiled nervously, unaware to the fact she was trying to hit on him. "Sure. Tell me where you're having problems and I will try to help you out."

The girl smiled in triumph and placed her notebook on the table. She found his innocence amusing. She pointed to a random question of which she had no interest of. Klaus began to give a detailed yet easy to follow explanation of how to solve the question, but she paid no attention. Her eyes were studying him and her brain was in the gutter.

"Klaus-kuuuunnnn! Can you help me too? This homework is sooooo hard!"

"Klaus-kuuuunnnn!"

"Help me, Klaus-kuuuunnnn!"

A big sweatdrop went down the back of Klaus' head. He didn't expect this to happen. Before he could answer, the girls leapt at him, pushing and shoving each other away. Each girl wanted Klaus for herself! A fight erupted, making a huge dustball with nothing visible but the odd random fist or foot. Klaus tried to crawl away as best he could. As soon as his head popped out of the mess, who did he see but a familiar figure.

"What are you doing here?" Klaus asked.

The small round creature smiled brightly, brandishing a microphone. She closed her eyes and sang from the bottom of her heart.

"Jigglypuff.....Jiguhlee-puff..."

One by one, the student bodies collapsed on the spot, each in a deep, peaceful sleep. Jigglypuff did not stop singing until everyone in sight was asleep. Klaus shook his head in disbelief.

"Jigglypuff, putting the entire study hall to sleep..." Klaus said.

Jigglypuff gave Klaus a weird look. No matter how many times it happened, she can still never figure out how Klaus can't fall asleep from her singing. Hiding the fact she was upset, she laughed. "Jiggly!" she cried happily, bouncing out the door.

"Jigglypuff, wait!" Klaus called, running after her. The door hit an object with a soft thud. Klaus looked down to see Eevee sleeping.

"Oh, Eevee. You were chasing after Jigglypuff again, weren't you?" Klaus picked up the sleeping Pokemon. "I should keep Jigglypuff on a better leash. All right, let's go after her."

Klaus ran out the building. Apparently, Jigglypuff had put EVERYONE to sleep. 'This is going to be a long day...' he groaned.

*****

Klaus looked at the clock. Only a few minutes until dinnertime ended. He had skipped out of mealtime early to finish his homework. Now in his room, he pondered on when he should make the trip to Tworiver.

'Maybe some fresh air will do some good...' he thought.

He opened the curtain. A horde of girls were braced behind the window for a glimpse of his cute face. "Klaus-kuuunnnnn!! Kyaaaaaaa!"

Klaus shut the blinds as calmly as they were opened. Tworiver or not to Tworiver...the sooner he gives the report, the sooner he'll be on his way home to L'Renouille. No more school. No more classroom life. No more normal teenager life. This is the life he has always wanted to live but was never granted due to circumstances.

'What should I do?' Klaus asked himself. He turned to Jigglypuff and Eevee for help. Unfortunately, both were fast asleep. Klaus twirled the pencil in his hand.

"I shouldn't be selfish. Father is counting on me. All right. I'll go to Tworiver immediately...right after I finish my homework."
