Kinnison Chapter 4
"Nightmares"
(A Doctor's office in Greenhill)

Kinnison rose up quickly drenched in sweat, he looked around, he was no longer in the house, he put his hand to his right cheek. There was no scar, he sighed in relief, he scanned the surroundings, it appeared he was in large home, he was in a bed, beside him on a table sat a large needle. After seeing most of the place he attempted to stand, sharp pain ran through his right shoulder and he fell back in the bed. He looked over and an elderly man walked in and looked him over, the Old Man murmured a few things as he looked over Kinnison then let out a small laugh.

"Well, you managed to survive a shot from that 'gun' thing" The Old man said "But it still gave you quite a licking"

"Excuse me... where am I... and who are you?" Kinnison managed to mumble out before collapsing on the bed again.

"Ahh, you can talk now to, that's good, well, your in Greenhill, and I am Dr. Reinbacher"

"Oh....." Kinnison said once more before drifting unconscious again.

(Anyway... enough of the Knocked out guy)

Balanth approached North Window, it was just as his master told him, a ghost town. More so that what he thought, there was a huge wall on the west wall (From McDohl and Neclord) and many Zombie bodies spread about the stairway. He and the other three bandits stepped over the Zombies and climbed the stairs, the interior was a bit better, because some of the other bandits had repaired it. Secily, Moore and Fudd separated and went their own ways. Finally after the seemingly endless climb, Balanth found himself behind Talrick who stood silently lost in thought. After regaining his courage, his finally spoke up (Or squeaked up): "M-master... I w-went to Greenhill as ordered"

"........." Was all Balanth heard as the Blonde Man stood there silent, no doubt thinking of cruel fate for his ex-right-hand man, finally Talrick responded "And....?"

"And.... we failed... but it wasn't my fault" Balanth argued "Moore fired his 'gun' at this kid spying at us and the soldiers came"

"And the kid..?" Talrick said without so much as moving.

"We didn't have enough time to get him" Balanth answered as sweat dripped down his forehead.

"Fool! He no doubt knows about us" Talrick yelled as his Rune on his Left hand glowed, the ground under Balanth Crumbled and he fell into a Fiery Lava pit, the ground then reshaped into normal ground. Talrick let out a slight laugh and turned away again staring again towards the Cave of the Wind.

(And now back to our favorite Human Bowman, Not to mention the only one)

Kinnison once again rose, around him was Dr. Reinbacher and two City-State soldiers. The Doctor was a few feet away preparing a shot, while the two soldiers stood in the doorway talking. He layed on the bed finding a few designs in the ceiling, his thoughts soon got the best of him as he thought of the Bandits, the dreams, Shiro and how stupid the name Neigha was. Finally getting fed up of having no answers for his thoughts, he made his presence known by clearing his throat. The Soldiers looked over to him and stood beside him, as the doctor hurried through knocking the two soldiers away.

"Well, it appears you are much better" Reinbacher said as he checked Kinnison's pulse "How do you feel?"

"Better... I think" Kinnison said groggily as he rubbed his face a few times "Where's Shiro?"

"Shiro..?" The Doctor asked "Ahh yes! The Wolf you had with you! He's outside playing with some of the local children"

"Really...?" Kinnison said as he limped over to the window and looked out, and sure enough. Shiro was fetching some Disc the kids would throw at him in mid-air then bring it back. Kinnison sighed and sat down by the window "So, why are the soldiers here" he asked.

"Well, you see....." The Taller bearded Guard started but got jabbed in the gut by his partner before he could finish.

"What my Companion WAS trying to say, is that you have a Highland Permit with you, and that until you heal, you are not allowed to leave this house The Somewhat shorter balding guard said.

"But that Permit..... I have a Permit for City-State and Toran Republic as well" Kinnison said looking at the skeptical looks from the guards "I travel alot"

"Oh you do?" The Shorter Guard asked mockingly "Are you a trader? Or maybe your a hero on a mission to save us"

"Maybe he's the Leader of the Toran Republic" The Taller guard said, but got a sharp Jab in the gut for being so stupid.

"I'm a Hunter" Kinnison said after recovering his stature after hearing the Guards Stupid suggestion.

"A Hunter...?" The Guard asked "Then why were you knocked out in front of the castle, huh?"

"Well...." Kinnison went off explaining everything that happened the previous night with the guards, as other things happened in other places.....

After Explaining, the Soldiers gave him permission to explore the city, but not leave. Not up to exploring at the moment, Kinnison decided to hit the sack.

(Enter Dream Sequence)

Kinnison quickly rose from his bed, looking around he found himself in his home where he lived near Chelios. However, when he walking towards that old home he lived in so long ago, a fire caught his eye. He ran towards it, before even running two yards, he was already at the clearing around the house. The House was engulfed in Flames, a woman ran out of the house holding a small child as a man fought off a Bandit. Kinnison's rage began to swell as he reached for his Arrows in his Quiver, but they were not there. Everything went dark and lighted up again to where the woman was on the outskirts of Greenhill, knowing she wasn't close enough and if they found her they would kill the child to. She abandoned the child where she was and turned back towards the forest, several arrows flew into her knocking her a few feet back before she fell. A Large Tattooed covered man lifted the body and dragged her back to the village. Kinnison watched painfully as all his attempts to help her failed.

Then the burning house was there, Talrick was there, laughing like before only this time his eyes were set on Kinnison. Talrick dismounted his horse and stared at Kinnison as the flames danced in his eyes. Talrick unsheathed his crooked blade and laughed heartily "Strike me! If you cannot bare to fight me in your dreams! Then you will never hurt me in reality"

Kinnison shakily pulled his Bow out, he reached in his quiver (which now had arrows) and pulled a long slender Arrow. His aim was shaky but he managed to keep it aimed at Talrick, he prepared to swing, but Talrick was already at his side, cutting a crescent moon in his cheek.

(End Dream Sequence)

"It was a dream....." Kinnison said as he wiped the sweat off him, he layed his head back but didn't sleep one wink the rest of the night.....

Meanwhile, in North Window, Talrick opened his eyes and smiled slightly, his Nightmare was successful. His new Right-hand Man, Vicks approached him. "Why is it that you must Bombard the Young Man with Nightmares" Vicks asked, as he adjusted his glasses.

"Why..?" Talrick said as he rubbed the burning rune on his right hand "Well, for one, he knows about plans, Second, I am testing him to see how strong he is"

"But... in his sleep?" Vicks asked adjusting his glasses once again "It would be less straining on you to just kill him"

"Yes... But I want to make sure I savor every last drop of Revenge this time" Talrick said with a sinister tone in his voice "To just kill him would not have the same effect as slowly ruining his life, then killing him"

"Yes sir" Vicks said "I shall go ahead and prepare our men for another raid on Lakewest Village"

"Hold that command" Talrick said "Send Moore and a few others back to Greenhill, I want to see how the Boy is acting due to the dreams"

(Now away from the Evil Dudes)

Kinnison managed to get the Doctor's permission to explore town, so he and Shiro went exploring. The first place he went was in the School's Runemaster class, he showed his Rage rune to one of the classmates there, but he merely shook his head and said "Your Magic abilities aren't grown enough for the fierce power of that Rune"

So Kinnison left, after exploring and some talking, he found out that Chelios, the Hunter who raised him lived in the town now. He decided to pay his old Protector a visit, he summoned up his courage and knocked at the door, Chelios looked the same as 8 years ago, except now his hair went from black to gray. "What do you want" Chelios asked "I'm out of Furs so you'll have to wait 'till later"

"I didn't come for Furs, I uhh..." Kinnison started trying to think of a good excuse "Came to learn your Hunting Techniques"

"Is that so?" Chelios said not really buying the story "Well, Come on in"

"So....." Kinnison said "Have you ever trained anyone"

"Yeah.... there was Kinnison, now there was a kid who had promise" Chelios said reflecting "But why bore you, how about some.... Tea"

"No thank you" Kinnison stated, as Reinbacher had practically drowned him with Herbal Tea's already "Please go on with your story"

"Well... alright, Kinnison was a bright kid, I was planning on sending him through college, but on his first hunt, he couldn't even shoot at a Stinking Boar. Well, it was understandable, So I decided I'd help him, So we went on, but then we found a real jewel, a white wolf cub, but he refused to kill it. So deciding to honor the boys wishes, I decided to let the wolf be, but when I released it, the wolf attacked me, so I made my way home, but I never saw the kid again" Chelios reflected "But it's over now"

"Excuse me if my memory is hazy, but Didn't you beat me up then Shiro attacked you" Kinnison stated dropping his guard.

"YOU!" Chelios said as he stood up "Your Him! I still owe you one for that Wolf Cub!"

Kinnison jumped out of the seat, and with a little luck, and a Angry Old Lady, he managed to outrun Old Man Chelios and hide in a alley, after things calmed down a bit. He made his way back to Reinbacher's office, Exasperated, he threw himself on the bed and fell asleep.......

(Yet another Dream Sequence)

Kinnison awoke, to find himself in Gregorio's Tavern, beside him stood three of the Bandits from the other night. He quickly turned to the cup laying in front of him, inside was a gold coin. After pulling the coin out, he saw a strange face carve in it, Looking closely at it, he saw that it was Talrick's face. Suddenly the whole village exploded into flames, the Bandits disappeared, he ran outside, the person he saw was Killing people and taking great Pleasure in it. He then learned that his name was Ruka Blight, the evil inside the man was like the evil he felt in Talrick. Yet it was different, he ran to stop him but everything faded away into a black Void. H then heard the sinister laugh he heard in his other dreams that had been haunting him. There Talrick stood, his Spiky Yellow hair, the Burning Eyes and the Twisted Sword he held tightly in his hands. He jumped at Kinnison, but Kinnison reacted quickly firing his arrow deep in Talrick's side.

"So... You did it" Talrick said as he stumbled back "Now you are ready.... but not ready for me!"

Kinnison fell to his knees as everything went dark once again.

(Wow, Two Dream Sequences in one Story!)

Kinnison slept soundly after that dream, and his nights continued to be well.... for now.
