Hannah Chapter 3
"Heading Towards Ryube"
(somewhere along a road)

It had been two more days that Hannah ended up staying in Toto Village. At that time, she had simply been protecting the grounds from looting. One could never tell when certain kinds of scavengers, who had no respect for the dead, would come to try and claim what was left of a village. They were a bane to both those living and those dead, and Hannah would have been damned before she let anyone come and disrupt the graves.

During that wait, she had fished together what was left of her own belongings to get ready for heading down the road. She hadn't really had so much things to worry about, her sword never left her side, and most of her rations and potch had gone to the few survivors she had been able to find.

If she wanted to survive until she reached a store, she surmised, she would have to hunt for her own food. That wouldn't be too much of a challenge. Small game was plentiful in the forests near Toto and Ryube (having trained in them for so long gave her a sense of the wildlife), and she had been raised to hunt as a little girl in the Grasslands by her father. She would have had no trouble getting food.

When some people arrived from Muse, Hannah had been quiet surprised when she found how reluctant she had been to actually leave the village. The young woman had been planning on it for days, after all…Toto was nothing but a place of the dead now. Still, she had paused momentarily, simply to look back at the burned out shells. Memories of what they looked like before the flames had filled her head, along with the faces of people who she helped to bury.

…And then she had gone away. Trying to resist the urge to look back another time.

The sky was getting dark overhead, and her brown eyes looked up at the sky. It was going to be night soon, and it would possibly even rain.

Suppressing a sigh, Hannah tossed her traveling pouch to the ground near the side of the dirt road she was walking on. She sat down beside it, her hand on her sword hilt as she rested warily. Although she didn't want to admit it, she was exhausted. She hadn't slept very well for a long while.

But she needed to get to Ryube…

'Soon.' she told herself, before her tired body fell into a restless, but a very much needed, sleep.

Soon…she would be at Ryube Village.
