"I Miss You All So Much" (L'Rennouille) Gilbert awoke the next morning with the sun blaring quite brightly into his face. He put is rough hand up to his chin, which ached quite badly. All that laughing... Gilbert thought to himself as he got himself out of bed. He walked over to the oakwood closet and slowly put on his uniform. He finally tied the knot so that the cape would stay in place, grabbed his sword, and walked out the door to enter a new day. As soon as he stepped through his doorway, something clicked in his mind. He looked around at his surroundings, as if seeing them for the first time. His mind raced, and things just began flashing through his mind. The death of Eye, the metting of Forthoro, and the falling in love with her. So much has happened. So much that cannot be explained. The old life was missed by Gilbert, quite a great deal. He knew what he had to do. Rachel and Lawrence were sitting down, enjoying a light breakfast of toast and orange juice. Lawrence nearly dropped his glass and shattered it across the nice new wood floor when Gilbert came barging into the room. He had a certain fire in his eyes, a fire that assured both Rachel and Lawrence that something serious had happened. "General Gilbert," said Rachel as she and Lawrence stood up and saluted, "is something troubling you?" Gilbert nodded, "Yes Rachel, something is troubling me. Please stand down." Gilbert gestured towards the chairs that the assistant generals were previously sitting in. They sat down, both quite confused by Gilbert's sudden emergency. "I have to leave," Gilbert said as if that was enough to explain this. "What do you mean, General?" Lawrence asked, even though he knew what it meant. "I miss my old life. My old friends, and old enemies. I have come all the way to L'Rennouille and become a general, when I used to be a worthless mercenary. To be honest, I prefer worthless mercenary." Rachel and Lawrence both stared up at the huge, muscular man. Gilbert took a hold of each of their hands and nodded, indicating that that was the only way he really knew how to say goodbye. Gilbert walked out of the door, leaving his sword on the ground for them to remember him by. Rachel burst out into tears and Lawrence held her close. "It's okay," he said to the sobbing warrior, "he'll be back someday." Lawrence and Rachel both knew that he would never ever walk through the palace gates again. Ever. "General Gilbert," said the palace guard, "what are you leaving for?" "My reasons are my own," Gilbert said as he pushed the guard aside and stepped into the open plain. The guard looked at the back of the warrior in shock. Little did he realize that Gilbert had quite a huge grin on his face. I haven't been myself for a long time, that cruelness was so...refreshing! Gilbert stopped in his tracks when he realized how long it would take him to get to Zexen by foot. Then, almost as if his thoughts were being read, Worm came charging through the gate with a carraige nice and ready. "Need a ride?" Worm said with a large, silly smile on his face. His green outfit seemed to glow in the sun. "Worm. This is the first time I've been happy to see you." Gilbert said as he climbed in the carraige and began to make himself some tea.
