Freed Chapter 8
(Two River)

"We've got to fight that thing!" Fid yelled. He then ran out toward the beast. He yelled with battle fury. His sharp blade gleaming in the moonlight. His sword arced toward the beast. Flame spewed form the beast's mouth. Fid was soon engulfed in flame and was burnt to a crisp.

"Lord Fid!" Freed yelled, seeing the body of his dead comrade collapse. He turned to Hidar. "We've got to fight that thing to save the town."

"It'd no good Freed," Hidar explained. "Its body is hard to hurt, well unless we had the Star Dragon Sword or something!"

"There's got to be something!" Fate said.

Freed gathered his resolve. This beast would cook the town if he didn't do something. He looked down at his sword. It had been made by Tessei and was a fantastic sword. He got it ready for battle.

Hidar shot a few arrows that were deflected by the harsh armor skin of the beast. The beast shot flame out in a laugh. The Flame Beast turned toward Freed and blew fire.

Freed saw the approaching flames and slid under them. He then sliced the beast's stomach. The sword scratched against the armor but probably did more damage to the beast itself. The Beast then swung its tail knocking Freed over. The Fubar Rune slid out of his pocket and out in front of him.

Hidar shot an arrow directly at the Beast's eye but its eyelid blocked any damage.

Freed knew he was fighting a losing battle. He saw the rune and thought, "What the heck?" He then took the hilt of his sword and smashed the rune.

The Flame beast howled in pain and then exploded.

Hidar and Freed sat around a campfire outside of Two River.

"Well who would have known the villagers would have kicked us out? I mean we saved them!" Hidar said.

"Well, they felt that we drew the beast to them which, technically we did," Freed replied.

"Oh well. Two River wasn't so nice anyway." Hidar began. "Too bad I couldn't've gotten closer with that Fate. She was SO hot. I would loved to open up her dress and shown her why elves are so…"

Hidar stopped noticing Freed glaring at him. Freed turned hi head to see the bushes part and Fate entered wearing a backpack.

"Hi guys," she said resting her pack by the fire.

"Um…Lady Fate what are you doing here?" Freed asked mystified.

She smiled and pulled a pan from her pack. "Well, I'd been saving enough potch to get out of Two River anyway. You see I have to find my one true love one-day and you guys seem like you're on a quest. I have a feeling you'll lead me to what I need to find."

Hidar licked his lips. "Well what can you do? Why should we let you come?"

Fate cracked an egg. "I make a mean omelet."

Freed didn't mind cooking but he didn't exactly love it either. However their journey was going to be very dangerous and he didn't know if he should let a sweet, innocent girl come. "Well…"

Hidar cut him off. "Welcome aboard!" He grabbed and shook her hand.

"Thank you," she replied, shaking the pan.

Hidar leaned back. "So Freed, who's are next lead on the Hawks?"

Freed removed his list form his pocket. "Well it looks like there's a man in Greenhill named Stephano. He apparently smuggles swords and armor for them."

"Who are the 'Hawks'?" Fate asked looking up from her pan.

Freed swallowed. He suppose now would be as good of a time as any.

"Well you see…"
