"True Instincts" (Greenhill) A day passed as Bob stood against the wall of Fox’s room, pondering about the events that has happened. He thought about the Hybrid Clan. They knew now that Bob was a true Lycanthrope, and was after him now too. Thoughts raced through his mind- Fox saying he was a were-fox, utilizing the technology of what the Hybrid Clan created; Kat and Ursus, sent to take out Fox for escaping the Clan. Everything was happening so fast to Bob that he never had time to think and deal with it all. Bob needed some fresh air. He walked down the stairs to the bottom of the inn, and left. The morning breeze smothered him as the sound of chirping morning birds invaded his mind. He had been up all night thinking. He was used to it though, especially when he was all by himself for so long. He took a big breath, and exhaled. Morning was his best time of the day. He turned around, and to his surprise, a young girl was standing behind him the whole time. " Hey there cutie. I have been waiting for you all morning! You remember me don’t you? It’s Erika! I brought you some breakfast!" she giggled as she held up a basket in her left hand. " Um. No thanks. I’m not very hungry." Bob stomach growled. " Sounds like you are! Here, take it!" She said with a big grin. " No thank you." Bob started to walk away from her, and in the inn. " At least you could tell me your name so I can tell all my friends that I met a hot guy!" she shouted. Bob turned around. " It’s Bob." " Thanks Bob!" Erika skipped and giggled all the way back to the Academy. Bob turned around and walked into the inn. " Women." He sighed. He noticed the time on a clock that hung from the wall in front of him. It was almost 10. I better wake Fox up, he thought. He walked up the stairs and grabbed the door handle of Fox’s room and slowly opened it. Suddenly a scream emitted from the room. " Don’t open the door!" Fox shouted from the room. " Oh! Sorry Fox!" Bob jumped away from the door with embarrassment. A few seconds later, Fox opened the door and stepped out, fully changed. " Sorry for yelling at you Bob, but I was practically naked!" Fox blurted out, with embarrassment. They paused, and then suddenly bursted out laughing. The innkeeper waved the waitress to come as Fox and Bob sat down at one of the tables. They didn’t have much to offer for brunch, but anything would have been better than eating from a basket with Erika gauking. " I’ll have the bacon and eggs please my lady." Fox spoke with smooth tones, making the waitress fall into his spell. Bob rolled his eyes. "Sure. Anything you say." Said the waitress, can’t keeping her eyes off of him. " Um, I’ll have that too." Bob interrupted. " Sure, whatever." The waitress snubbed off Bob like a piece of dirt. The waitress walked away. Bob looked at Fox with confusion. " How do you do that?" he asked. Fox laughed. " It is a talent I guess." Fox giggled. " Oh please." Bob said with a sprinkle of sarcasm. " So, did you get a good sleep Bob?" Fox asked. " No, not really. I was up just thinking about things." Bob replied while playing with a piece of the wooden table that he broke off a few minutes before. " About the Hybrid Clan." Fox asked. " Yeah, and other stuff too." Bob replied. " Don’t worry about it. We will get through it." Fox said with confidence. The waitress arrived and handed them both their meals, smiling at Fox. " Thank you my lady." Fox charmingly said. The waitress giggled as she walked away. " You get anyone woman you want and here I have a 16 year old after me." Bob sighed. " Ha ha ha! What?!" Fox bursted out laughing. " Oh nevermind." Bob threw the small shard of wood on the floor. They both ate their meals will little talk. Bob was surprising very hungry, ripping the eggs with his fork and chowing down on the bacon with little mannerism. Fox on the other hand, slowly cut each egg into even pieces, and broke his bacon in similar fashion. Bob was amazed at how well Fox had manners. He almost felt, childish. Suddenly a voice caught both of their attention. " Come out Fox and Bob! It is time you both came with us!" shouted the voice. Fox and Bob both looked at each other as their faces became pale. They both knew whose voice that was. It was Ursus. " I said, come out maggots!" Ursus shouted. Bob stood up, grabbed his beast rod, and started to walk towards the entrance, trying to show no sigh of fear to Fox. " I see you know what you want to do Bob?" Fox asked as he got up. " There is no other way." Bob looked at Fox. " Let’s go." Fox nodded. They both walked outside, and waited for the battle. But there were three people. Kat, Ursus, and a new face. He had long black hair, and black gothic attire. He had a large scar going down the left side of his face, along his eye. He had an evil grin on his face too and Bob knew that he was big trouble. His black eyes pierced into Bob soul, and he knew that the man knew his weaknesses. " Corvus, it is about time Leo sent you to do his dirty work." Fox said keenly as he walked towards him. " Ah, nice to see you Fox. I see you haven’t changed a bit since the last time I kicked your butt." The black- haired man said. " Well, let’s get this over with." Fox cracked his knuckles. " Oh, with much to your delight, I won’t be fighting you. But I have come on behalf of Leo to give you his regards that he couldn’t see you die today. I personally don’t care if you are alive or not. Kat, Ursus, spare the wolf. Leo needs him. As for Fox, make sure he dies painfully. The Hybrid Clan will not tolerate traitors." Corvus let out a powerful series of three caws as he jumped in the air. His body morphed into a were-crow and flew off. Kat and Ursus got into their stances. " Coward!!" Fox screamed. " I’m going to enjoy this." Kat shrieked. She pulled out her whip and snapped it in the air a few times. Bob notice that the end of the whip split into 6 ends, with a small ball at the end of each one. He glanced at Ursus, and he knew that his weapon was his fists. " You ready Bob?" Fox said as he looked into his eyes. Fox sensed no fear in him, like Bob was determined he was going to win already. " Let’s dance." Bob jumped at Ursus, with his beast rod in hand, and thrusted it into Ursus’s chest. Ursus grabbed the rod, swung it around, and threw it, making Bob smash into the ground. His rod caught onto a branch and got stuck in a tree. " Ah great." Bob said as he slowly got up for the ground. Ursus charged at him, but Bob quickly dodged him, and Ursus ran into some bushes, but quickly recovered. Fox unsheathed his Foxblade and got into a defensive stance. Kat snapped her whip a few more times, and then leaped at Fox. She rounded up her whip and snapped it at Fox, missing his face by an inch or so. She landed in front of him, and smiled. " That was just a warning. Now here is the force!" Kat screamed as she rounded up her whip again. This time Fox was ready. He grabbed an end of the whip and yanked it so hard that Kat flew forward into him. Fox did a 360 and finished it with a kick to Kat’s chest, sending her flying and crashing to the ground. Fox noticed a crowd forming and quickly motioned for them to back away. They all did. A girl, on the other hand, did not listen and ran behind a bush. Fox noticed something odd about her. Quickly his attention went from the girl to Kat as she got up and dusted herself off. " I just cleaned this! Arrrghh!" She charged at him, with her whip cracking around her. Fox swiped his Foxblade and the whip wrapped around it, changing the battle to a tug of war. They both clenched their teeth as they tried to pull their weapons apart. Knowing that this wasn’t going anywhere, Kat kicked sand in Fox’s eyes. Fox cried in pain as he let go of his sword and Kat jerked backwards. She swung her whip and the blade flew in the air, and stuck into the ground behind her. Meanwhile, Ursus charged at Bob while his attention was at Fox, and slammed into Bob’s back, sending him flying, and tumbling to the ground. Bob felt a jolt of pain go through his back. The sounds of Ursus running up to him triggered a burst of energy as Bob jumped to his feet, bent his head down, and when Bob’s head when into Ursus’s chest, he straightened up and flipped Ursus over his head, sending Ursus crashing to the ground. Bob then did a jumping back flip, and slammed his feet into Ursus’s groin. He screamed in pain. Bob grinned. Fox ran towards the fallen Kat and did a flip in the air, flipping past her and landing beside his sword. He quickly grabbed it and got into his defensive stance. " Had enough yet Kat?" Fox panted. " I just got started!" Kat screamed. He flipped to her feet and cracked her whip, but this time she was too fast for him. Her whip snapped into Fox’s side, rapping around his body, and the ends cracking into his stomach. Fox was trapped. Kat knocked Fox’s sword out of his hand and put her face up to his. " Too bad Fox. We could have been something special." She smiled as she kissed him on the lips. Fox tried to break free but it was no use. Kat released herself as she picked up Fox’s sword. " It would be a pity to die by your own blade." Bob watched as Kat pointed the sword at Fox’s heart. He tried to run to him, but Ursus grabbed him and put him in a headlock. Bob tried to break free, but it was also no use. " Good bye Fox." Kat gripped the sword and began to thrust it into Fox’s heart when all of the sudden a rock flew out of the bushes and hit Kat’s hand, knocking the sword out of it. Kat turned her head and noticed Erika standing up from the bushes, with a slingshot in her hand. Erika shot another rock and it pegged Ursus in the head, releasing enough grip for Bob to break free. " Thanks Erika!" Bob shouted. " Now hurry and get somewhere safe." " Wait, I have on more thing to do!" She aimed at the branch where Bob’s rod was stuck on, shot a rock at it, and knocked it down to the ground. She then ran back up to the academy. Bob smiled as he grabbed his rod and charged at Ursus. Fox kicked Kat in the stomach, making her release the whip in her hand. He unraveled himself, grabbed his sword, and readied himself. Kat gasped for air as she bent over, trying to breathe. Fox walked up to her and lightly tapped her butt; she yelped and fell to the ground. Fox laughed. Kat growled and ran to the Ursus. She helped him up, while they both panted in pain. " It isn’t over yet!!" Suddenly her and Ursus’s runes started to glow. Their bodies began to change into their were-animal forms. A were-leopard and a were-bear. They both growled. " You are now dead!" growled Ursus. " Rabid rune!! Lend me your…." " Bob no! Let me handle this. I got you involved with all of this. I’m at fault here." Fox interrupted. " No! I will help you. You know as well as I do that working together is the only way we will win. I will help you whether you want me to or not!" " Thanks Bob!" " Golden Fox rune! Lend me your power!" " Rabid Fang rune! Lend me your power!" Fox’s blonde hair shaded to a golden color as his hair grew longer and thicker. His eyes changed from blue to yellow as his face grew a snout and his teeth sharpened. His whole body was covered with fur now, and a long tail hung from his back. A were-fox. Bob changed as well to his form, but looked in amazement at Fox’s golden color. The crowd that watched the fight froze in astonishment. Fox charged at Kat with tremendous speed that Bob could barely see him. Fox ran around her, punching in all directions. Kat screamed with every punch, and fell to the ground. Fox stopped and stood in front of her. Ursus swiped his claws at Fox, but was stopped by Bob’s strength. Bob flipped Ursus’s hand away and threw numerous punches into the bear’s chest. Ursus fell to the ground, beside Kat. " Pretty easy if you ask me." Bob howled. " You think so?" Kat shouted. She got to her knees and tripped both Fox and Bob at the same time. They both fell to the ground as Ursus go up. Kat and Ursus stood in front of Fox and Bob and chuckled. " Now we end this!" Ursus growled. He and Kat exposed their claws and got ready to destroy. Bob and fox looked at each other’s face and both laughed. With their feet up Fox slammed his feet into Kat as did Bob to Ursus, and sent them both flying to the ground. Bob and Fox jumped to their feet and growled. Kat and Ursus got up. " That’s it!!" Kat shrieked as a bolt of lightning shot out of her hands, knocking both Fox and Bob to the ground. " She can shoot lightning!?!" Bob yelled at Fox. " So they did find out how to use those kind of runes!" Fox said in amazement. " What do you mean?!" Bob asked. " I’ll you later. Now isn’t the time." Fox jumped to his feet. Bob followed. " We were told not to use these power but we don’t care anymore!" Kat shouted. " Yeah! Now your in trouble!" Ursus held up his paw and a giant boulder erupted from it. He growled as he threw it at Bob. Luckily, Bob dodged it fast enough, and it slammed into the inn wall. Bob jumped at Kat and slammed his paw into the leopard’s head, knocking her to the ground. Fox ran at Ursus and dodged his flying fists and kicks. When he got his chance, he kicked him in the side, weakening him for a final attack. Bob jumped at Ursus and him and Fox attacked together, a unite attack. They both swiped their left hand at Ursus, then the right, then the left and right again, and ended with a flying uppercut followed by a flip, bounding their foots into Ursus’s chin, sending him flying ontop of Kat. Bob and Fox belted out a loud howl, ending their unite attack. Kat rolled Ursus off of her and slowly got up. " This isn’t the end!" Kat shouted as she changed to her human form, bruised and bleeding. Ursus, still lying on the ground, changed as well. Bob changed too, but for some reason, he felt weak. He fell to the ground. Fox quickly changed and ran towards Bob. " Bob, are you okay??" Fox said while lightly slapping Bob’s face. " Yeah, I’m just really weak for some reason." Bob calmly replied. " It is called ‘backlash’. True lycanthropes experience this when they have been in their form for too long. It makes them weak and vulnerable. I was just waiting for it to happen." " Enough of this!" Kat staggered. " Oh Kat, you tried but failed." Said a voice. Corvus swooped down and changed to his human form beside Kat. " I brought some friends. I’m sorry Kat but I knew you would fail, so I brought reinforcements." Fox and Bob looked behind Corvus and there stood 5 lycanthropes. A bat, a rabbit, a snake, a rhino, and a gorilla. They all appeared to be part of the Hybrid Clan too. " We are in trouble now. There is no way we can fight all of them!" Fox told Bob. " We have to escape." " But… how?" Bob closed his eyes. " Hey all you jerks!!" screamed a young girl. It was Erika. " You leave my cute wolfie alone!" Bob and Fox looked at the girl and she had a bunch of kids for the Academy behind her, about 100 of them, all with slingshots! " Bob, take your friend and go! We can take care of this!" she yelled. " Thanks Erika!" Bob smiled as he got up. " No problem. I have to help my boyfriend!" she giggled. " Ready everyone! Fire!!" Rocks flew in all directions, hitting Corvus and the rest of the Clan members. They all tried to shield themselves from the rocks but it was no use. Meanwhile, Fox helped Bob walk through the students and to the Academy. They walked to the entrance to the school and turned around. They heard a shout. " Alright everyone! They are safe! Retreat!" Erika shouted. Then all the students ran towards the Academy, passing Bob and Fox. Erika ran up to them and pulled them into the dormitory. " Here, you can stay here until you are well." She said. " But they know we are here. They will come for us." Fox told her. " Don’t worry about it. I heard that raven guy said that they will be back later. Hopefully by that time you will be gone." She smiled. " Thank you young lady." Fox smiled back. Erika walked out of the room as Fox gently setted Bob down on the bed. He fell asleep as soon as he hit the pillow. " Hmmm, it seems we are safe for now." Fox spoke to himself. " But for how long?
