"Fleeing the Pack" (Greenhill) "Come on Bob, wake up." Bob’s eyes slowly opened as the view of Fox leaning over him came into clarity. He smiled as he slowly got to his feet, brushing the grass and dirt off of his clothes. " Sorry for sleeping in. I usually do that." Bob smiled. " That’s okay. Here, I went and found some food. It is called a Rimut weed. It is really healthy for you." Fox tossed the plant to Bob. " Thanks." Bob munched down the plant quickly, and to his surprise, it was really good. It tasted sweet, like an apple. " Wow, this is good!" Fox laughed. " Sometimes I surprise even myself!" he joked. Fox started to walk along the path, and Bob grabbed his rod off the ground and followed. He was going to Greenhill. A totally new environment for him. He was excited. Then Bob started to think about Fox. Why was he going to Greenhill? " Fox?" Bob said calmly. " Yeah Bob?" Fox stopped walking, and turned towards him. " Why are you going to Greenhill again?" Bob asked. " Oh. I have to meet someone there. It is quite important. And at half past noon, so we have to get there as soon as we can." Fox replies as he started to walk again. " What is so important about it?" Bob asked with interest. " Umm… no reason. Let’s hurry." Fox blurted out. Bob knew something was fishy about Fox, but as long as he was on his side, he didn’t pay to much attention to it. As time past, the silence between the two was great. Why is he so quite all of the sudden, he thought. Did I say something wrong? They both walked along the trail for a few hours, without stopping. Greenhill was now in view, but this only worried Bob even more. Fox was so nice to him, and now, like a flick of a switch, Fox was a different person. Something was wrong. " Bob, when we get to Greenhill, we will have to part. It has been great travelling with you, but what I have to do there is something that you shouldn’t be around to witness." Fox suddenly spoke. Bob didn’t know what to say. " Sure Fox. It was great travelling with you." Replied Bob. He didn’t want to ask anymore questions. He didn’t want Fox to be angrier with him. Bob blamed himself. They both walked with silence following them all the way to the entrance to Greenhill. The sun was right over them, it was noon. Just like Fox said it would be. As they both entered Greenhill, Bob’s face light up with joy. He was in another world. A whole new experience for him to cherish. He looked around, and noticed an Inn to his left, the building where Fox was walking towards. " So, good-bye then." Bob sighed. " Yes, farewell Bob." Fox said with an apologetic tone. He walked into the Inn, leaving Bob at the entrance to the town. Bob wandered around town, with not as much excitement as his once had. He was worried about Fox. What is his problem, he thought. Bob walked through the town, and noticed and Item shop on his left. Knowing that he didn’t really need anything, he just continued to walk, passing houses and laughing students. He stopped right in front of the academy. A girl ran past him with tremendous speed, then stopped, and faced Bob. She looked 16 or so. " Wow, you’re pretty cute, I hope you are going to the Academy." She said, lustfully. " Umm… no. I’m just visiting." Bob countered, trying to blow her off. " Tee-hee. My name is Erika. What is yours?" she spoke with such affection that it made Bob sick. " I have to go now, I got a busy schedule to follow." Bob quickly turned around and fast-walked back through town, occasionally looking behind to see if see was following him. Sure enough, she was trailing a distance away. Bob put his hand over his face and sighed. " This isn’t what I expected to happen." Bob sighed again. He noticed that he was beside the Inn. He looked behind him, and there was Erika, a distance away, waving to him with a big grin on her face. Bob had to get rid of her. But she was very persistent! Suddenly an urge went through his body. Fox was in that Inn, talking to someone about something important. He just had to find out what it was. Maybe he could help him. Bob stood in front of the Inn, tapping his foot on the ground. Should I, or shouldn’t I? The thought raced through his mind over and over. And like a slot machine, his thought settled to yes. He slowly walked into the Inn and peered around the room. He isn’t here. He must be upstairs. He slowly walked up the stair, trying not to grab the attention of the Innkeeper, who was busy arguing with a customer about having a wet bed. Bob got to the top of the stairs, and listened. He could hear talking from one of the rooms. He walked up to the door, and put his ear against it. It was half past noon, and the conversation officially started. " So, do you have any information for me?" Fox asked someone in the room. " Of course. Have I ever let you down Fox?" a woman’s voice answered. It sounded like she was young too. " The new Hideout is in the forest near Ryube, the town that was burnt to the ground by Luka." " What the heck is this? What hideout? What is the deal with Fox?" Bob murmured. "Ryube huh? So good ‘old Leo still won’t quit huh? Ha! That is just him!" Fox laughed. " So, will you be heading out tomorrow?" asked the woman. Bob noticed the woman’s voice to be calm, but something just didn’t sound right to him. " Yes. But I have something to tell you. I found a Lycanthrope." Fox told her. Bob’s eyes lit up astonishment and fear. " How can that be? It was said that their whole race was terminated!" said the woman. " Well, it seems one lived through it. His name is Bob Nubilus. He is here in Greenhill." Fox explained. He seemed pretty calm to Bob, but still, the whole atmosphere of the conversation seemed odd. " Yes. This Bob would be a great benefit for Leo. Leo mustn’t know." She said with intensity. " Yeah. Only you and I know, and I left Bob at the entrance. He should be gone know." Fox commented. " I know too!" yelled another voice from the room. Bob heard someone breaking out of a closet door, followed by Fox yelling. " Kat! How could you do this! You tricked me!" Fox cursed. " I’m sorry Fox. But Leo is the king. I have to obey him." Kat mourned. Bob backed away from the door and froze. What should I do?! Suddenly he heard fighting in the room, and Fox sounded like he was struggling. With a sudden crash, Fox flew through the door and slammed into the wall, wheezing in pain. Bob glanced in the room and noticed a big man with a bandana around his head, with a brown vest, just like Bob’s on. He had brown jean cut off shorts and rugged shoes stood under his feet. He had an angry grin on his tanned face. Bob then noticed a woman standing next to the man, with a smirk that reminded him of Windy. She had long black hair, was average height and size, and wore a fighter-esc getup. At her hip hung a weird looking weapon, like a whip, but with numerous tips. " Come on Fox! This time we got you. You won’t destroy our hideout again! I won’t allow it!" the man exclaimed. " All this time…. Kat. You were… tricking… me… all this… time." Fox stuttered as he laid against the wall, in pain. He tried to get up, but fell back down on the ground. He looked up and noticed Bob standing there, confused. " Bob? What are…you doing here?" " So this is the Lycanthrope?" Kat said with sarcasm. " Doesn’t look great to me!" " Leo would love to have him, eh Kat?" the man roared. "Let’s take him with us. Well take care of Fox some other time." Kat snickered. "No. You hurt my friend! Now you will fight with me!!!" Bob yelled. Kat and the man both mocked him. "Oooooohhhh! We are sooooooo scared of you Bob! What ever will we do?!" Kat punned. The man belted out laughing. " Rabid Fang! Lend me your power!" Bob shouted. Suddenly his rune of his forehead began to glow. Kat and the man both froze. The rune ignited with a fiery flare as Bob stared at his enemies. His hair began to grow longer and darker, and his teeth started to enlarge and sharpen. Bob forcefully held up his arms in the arm as they began to musculate even more, and become surrounded with fur. His legs did the same. His face began to morph from a gentle human’s face to a fearsome beast. His eyes quickly shaded away from the original brown to bright yellow. Bob was fully changed now. A walking nightmare. " He really is one!" The man yelped. " Now that we know a Lycanthrope exists, we will inform Leo immediately!" Kat shouted as she jumped out of the window, followed by the man. Bob howled as his form changed back to human. " Are you okay Fox?" Bob said as he ran to aid him. Fox laughed. " It seems we are even now." Fox slowly got up, and wrapped his arm around Bob’s neck. They both stumbled down the stairs and into the main lobby of the inn. Bob sat Fox down in a chair, and calmly sat across from him. " Who were those guys!" Bob asked. Fox looked around to see if anyone was near-by. Knowing no one was close, he began his story. " Well, since you are part of this now, I guess it’s suitable for you to know. I belonged to a high-classed organization called the Hybrid Clan. We were a secret organization, performing ‘save the day’ missions and stuff like that. We helped a lot of people, and everyone in the group felt very good about doing good things. Well, one day a man arrived at our hideout and wanted to speak to our leader. We were all surprised that someone found out where we hid. It wasn’t a secret anymore. Anyway, this man asked if we could take care of some bandits in his town. Our leader, Leo, said yes, and we did. After the job was finished, the man offered money. Coming from a rich family, he offered us 100,000 potch. Leo first refused, because we never took potch from anyone. But this time he did, and Leo started to get greedy. He began to charge people for doing things for them, and began to slide from doing good, to doing evil. He stole, kidnapped, and even killed people. People started to fear us, and did everything that Leo told them to do." " Wow. If people of your clan didn’t like what they were doing, why didn’t they just leave?" Bob asked. " Well," Fox continued, " People did, but Leo sent out people to kill them off, and they were killed. I am the only member who has survived for so long. I guess I’m just lucky." "Not luck, but great strength and state of mind." Bob pointed out. " Maybe so. Anyway, I fled the group, hoping that someday I would stop Leo. I did destroy their last hideout, but for some reason, it was empty. Kat was my insider. She would tell me everything that was going on, but now I realize that she was against me all this time, and she probably warned everyone to leave the hideout that night. Damn!" Fox said as he banged his fist on the table. " I knew I shouldn’t have trusted her!" " Why am I important to this Leo person? What is the deal with the interest in Lycanthropes?" Bob inquired. " Oh. Here is the part where you will be amazed, and confused. Back when the town of Colte, your town, was alive and active, a group of scientists kidnapped a couple of your people and performed numerous tests on them. After years of testing, they discovered that they could extract cells from the blood, utilize them, and put them in ‘fake runes’." " Fake? Is there really such thing?" Bob questioned. " Yes. They are like a hollow egg. Nothing inside, just a shell. Well the scientists figured a way to put the cells into these runes and change them. I’m not sure how; I was never good at that whole science stuff. Anyway, they figured out how to put animal cells into the Lycanthrope cells, manipulating them in a way where the rune allows the bearer to change in an animal other than a wolf. Leo was the head scientist, and when he discovered this, he made himself a rune, and pledged that he would use this new technology for good use. We know now that that was a big lie." Bob gasped. "There are people who could change into other animals?" " Yes. And I am one of them." Fox held out his hand and there on his palm was a rune. It was the shape of a Fox’s head, golden in color. " It is called the Golden Fox rune. It allows me to change into a fox, and gives me the strength and instincts of one. Just like yours." "Woah. So Leo wants me because I’m not artificial right?" Fox asked. " You’re catching on quick. That man that you saw doubtfully kicking my but was Ursus, and he can change to a bear, and that traitor of a woman was Kat, a leopard." " This is totally cool!" Bob got excited. " I’m not the only one left!" Fox laughed. " Don’t be too excited. It’s not a good thing to have the Hybrid Clan after you. You should be lucky that you are even alive." " Your right." Bob paused. " Are you doing okay now Fox?" Bob said. "Yeah. I just need some rest. Would you mind bringing me back up stairs?" Fox slowly got up. Bob nodded and brought him back to his room, and laid him down on the bed. Fox quickly fell asleep as Bob stood behind the broken door and pondered. " The Hybrid Clan huh? Using Lycanthrope technology? This is way too intense." Bob said quietly to himself. He looked at Fox, heavily sleeping, and smiled. " This is intense, but it is also going to be fun!"
