"Clawing into the Past" (Forest Village)
As the darkness invaded the room, he laid there, staring at the ceiling, and hoped that he could recover from his terrible nightmare that he went through that night. Light tried to seep into his room, but the darkness was too powerful and it feasted on Bob’s fear. What made me go through that experience? The thought pounded in his head like an axe chopping up wood. As the sound of crickets drowned the silence that enhanced his fears, all he could think about was his sister. How he let her down. How he disgraced his race, his town, and his family. He couldn’t hold his feelings inside anymore. It was like that nightmare that he experienced opened a door of dread, and there was no way to lock it again. With a single tear running down his cheek, he shut his eyes tight, hoping that he could just leave this world and venture in a world of hope. But he knew deep down inside that he could never go there. He was too afraid. He opened his eyes and stared around the room. What am I doing here? He observed at his small house that he made with his own bare hands. He had accomplished in surviving all these years by himself. And he knew that he could survive even longer, but not the way he is feeling right now. He stared at the ceiling again, thinking about all he has done in the past 12 years. And then he realized that despite all the ventures in the woods, fending himself from the pesky griffins that inhabited there, he never did anything. Not one thing. Never left the woods, never spoke to anyone, never even once acted like he cared about the world that he lived on. This punched him in the face, and his eyes closed shut again, letting out tears of pain. "Bob!" His eyes opened wide open and his heart almost leaped out of his body. He started to breathe heavily, and his fears made him sweat. "Bob! Help me Bob!" He looked around the room, but saw no one. Only him and the darkness. But his brain played that voice over and over in his head, and suddenly his brain knew whose voice that was. He realized that another nightmare would come. A flash of light filled his eyes, and he saw the figure of a young girl beside his bed, pulling on the blankets. " Come on Bob, wake up!" The girl quickly vanished in a flash of light and he was alone again. "No!! Not again! I can’t take this anymore!!" he yelled as his body was trembled and his heart pounded in his chest. The flash came back. "Come on Bob! You promised we can pick those flowers in our secret spot!!" said the young girl. "What is happening to me…?" cried Bob. The room started to change, and he knew where he was now. He was in his room, on that day. The very day where his nightmares got worse. The kidnapping of his sister. He appeared standing beside the bed, which his young self was sleeping on. He couldn't bare to see this scene either. Not after he saw the burning of his town and the killing of all the townsfolk and his parents. " I will not see this!! I can’t! I won’t!" he screamed as he slammed his eyes shut and covered his ears. But with some mysterious force, his eyes opened and his hands flopped to his side. " What?! Who is doing this, and why are you doing this to me?!" he screamed. " Wake up!!" said Saria as she hopped onto the bed, waking up the sleeping Bob. " Alright, alright, I’m up!" said young Bob as he got up out of bed and put on his shirt. " Let’s go! You promised we would get those flowers!" Saria said as she danced around young Bob. " Okay, okay, let’s go." Replied young Bob as they both walked outside into the forest. " No, I refuse to experience this again! I will not!" cried Bob as he stood still, with his arms crossed. But as his younger self and his sister left the room, Bob started to move with them, floating on top of the ground. " What kind of magic is this! Tell me who you are and why you are doing this!" he screamed. But no one relied. No one even heard him. " Hee hee! Yeeeaaaeee! We are going to get flowers!" Saria said as he pranced around the woods. It had only been a year, and she had easily forgotten was had happened to her parents and the town. Bob always told her that their parents were okay, and told him that they would find them. He told her that their parents would take care of Windy and they would come back to them when they rebuild the town. Luckily, she was full of faith in him, her parents, and their protector, Colte. " Just don’t pick too many okay? We want the animals of the forest to enjoy them too" young Bob ensured her. " Okay big brother." Oh how he wished she could call him that again. As Bob slowly floated with them, he wished that this would stop and that he could just be home again, laying in his bed, and alienate himself from the rest of the world, like he has been doing for the past 12 years. But for some weird reason, he knew that he had to experience this again. As the three arrived at their "secret spot", Bob looked around and memories flew into his head. This spot was a special spot to him. The draping trees that hung over the sky imitated a giant green blanket that let only certain spots of light come through. It swerved in a circle, with a tree trunk in the middle. And surrounding the trunk, were flowers of many colors. Greens, blues, reds, yellows, oranges, and purples filled the lagoon in the forest. The purples were Saria’s favorite, and even though Bob never showed an interest to a certain flower in front of her, he really liked the red ones. The sound of chirping birds, and the sight of hopping rabbits and fawns, this was their paradise. Their "secret spot" out of the tragic world that they desperately longed to leave. They both started to pick the flowers and put them in a basket that had been made out of bark and grass. Bob was very good at making things out of nature. His father taught him everything he needed to know. As the both continued to gather the only thing that made them happy, Bob watched his sister, as she smelled the flowers, and put them in her brown hair. Dancing, laughing, not aware of what was going to happen next. He braced himself, as he realized that there was nothing he could do anymore. He just had to stand there, and watch it happen, again. " Okay Bob. You think we have enough?" Saria giggled. " Yup, I think so." Said young Bob as he put the last picked red flower in the basket. A crackle was heard. Young Bob quickly turned around to see who it was. " So, we have finally found you two. Windy will be happy." There stood a man, slender in size, with a cloak rapped around his body, standing in front of two other men. Held in his hand was a large sword, and Bob knew it wasn’t just for show and tell. " You two are coming with us. I don’t want no fuss from either one of you!" blurted out was seemed to be the leader. " Bob, I’m scared." Cried Saria, as she hid behind young Bob. Bob braced himself, but couldn’t keep still. " No, we aren’t going to that witch!" yelled young Bob. " Then I guess we will have to use force kid." Said one of the other men. They approached him, readying themselves for the capture. " Go behind the trunk Saria" young Bob told her. She ran behind the trunk, just like he said. Bob clenched his fists. Young Bob clenched his fists tightly. He realized that his weapon was not with him, but he knew that he could take them all without it. " Get ready kid!" The leader leaped at young Bob, but young Bob quickly dashed away, and the leader pounded to the ground. Young Bob knew he could change anytime to a beast, but he didn’t want to unless it was necessary. One of the other bandits charged at young Bob and slammed his fist right into young Bob’s stomach. He flew into a tree. " Give up kid!" shouted the leader as he got up, dusting off his cloak. Young Bob knew what to do. He had to. There was no choice. Bob stood there and stared at his young self get up off the ground and scream. " Oh Rabid Fang Rune! Lend me your power!" yelled young Bob. The saber-tooth shaped rune lit up with a bright red flare, and young Bob’s body trembled. His hands began to grow and his nails enlarged to sharp spikes. His legs grew as well, and his whole body suddenly grew a thick coat of fur. His nose grew into a snout and his brown eyes changed to bright yellow. His screams turned to piercing howls. He growled and his teeth quickly changed to sharp spears. This was his true power. The blessing of Colte. The werewolf leaped at one of the bandits and slammed his body into the man's chest, sending the man flying into a bush. The beast turned his head and noticed the other bandit charging at him. Young Bob flipped over the unexpected man, picked him up, and slammed him into a giant rock. Young Bob growled to the sky. The leader grabbed his sword and swiped it at young Bob’s head. But with keen instincts that werewolves had, he ducked, swerved around, and smacked a giant uppercut in the leader’s face, sending him flying in the air. He then came crashing down to the ground. He slowly got up, and limped towards the bandit smashed into the rock. " You may have a trick up your sleeve, And so do I." The leader told Young Bob. He held out his right hand and there engraved on it was a black rune. Bob had never seen nor heard of that rune before till that day. " Black rune! Bind this boy!" called the Leader. The black rune ignited with a black light as the leader grinned. Suddenly the light shot at Young Bob, rapping it around his body, holding him still. The leader laughed. Young Bob couldn’t break free. Bob watched, as his younger self was helpless. The leader walked behind Saria and grabbed her. She started to scream Bob’s name. " Bob! Help me Bob!" She cried. Young Bob tried to break free, but even though he contained massive strength with his rune, he could not defeat the black rune. " Well, Windy did say that the girl was more important. You were actually supposed to die. But I am too weakened to use the true power of my rune. So I will just punish you by taking your sister away from you. You will now have no one. The punishment of being alone! Ha ha ha!" laughed the leader as the three men slowly walked out of view of both Bob’s. Bob bursted out with tears. Young Bob quickly transformed back to his human form and tried to break free. But it was no use. " Saria!! SSAARRRIIIIAAAAAA!!!!!!" Cried young Bob. Bob covered his ears and closed his eyes, as the sound of his sister's screaming slowly died away in the distance. " No!! Why am I here! Why are you doing to me!" cried Bob as he heard his younger self burst out in tears, calling her name. "Noo!!" screamed Bob. "Nooooooooo!!!" Bob opened his eyes and the bright white flashed in his eyes again, and suddenly appeared in his bed. Back home, where he was left off. His heart pounded as his body continued to tremble and his breath raced. He slammed his fist into the wall, but he did not care if it hurt. " Greetings Bob," said a mysterious voice. Bob looked at the foot of his bed, and there stood a woman, rapped in a large blue cloak, with bright brown hair, and mysterious eyes. With a shock of amazement, Bob realized it was the face of his enemy he had thought about for many years. " Windy! You will die!" he jumped out of his bead, grabbed his staff, and gripped it so tightly that his knuckles cracked. " I am not the woman you seek. I may have the same repletion, but I am purely good, and here to aid you." With the sound of her gentle voice, Bob put down his staff and looked into her eyes with fear. " My name is Leknaat. I am the keeper of fate. I have come to you to tell you that you must keep going. You must seek out your fears, not wait for them to come to you. Bob, you have wasted your life for too long. You have a destiny to fulfill, to become one of the 108 stars of destiny." Replied the young woman. " You are the one who made me visit my past, aren’t you?!" shouted Bob. " Yes. I had to made you realize your fate." She replied. " I can’t do it though," said Bob as he fell to his knees on his bed. " I can’t. I have failed everyone that I cared for." " No. Saria is still alive." Bob’s anguished suddenly turned to hope. " Yes. She is still alive. Waiting for you to find her. You must go Bob. It is your destiny!" Leknaat told him. Suddenly, with a blinding flash of blue light, she vanished, and Bob was alone. Bob pondered to himself. Should he believe what she said? She knew so much about him. She made him experience his tragic past. He must go. For the sake of his sister, and his slain parents. Yes, he must fulfill his destiny. Bob smiled. He hadn’t smiled in a long time. Suddenly he felt good about life, and knew that good things will happen to him now. With the anticipation of hope, he grabbed his things and ran out the door, and left the forest. He walked through the village, smiling at the townsfolk as they wondered whom it was that came out of the forest. Bob walked to the Item store, and spoke. This time his words were not embedded with fear. " I would like 10 medicines and a couple antidotes please." He said with a smile. " Going for a long journey?" replied the shop owner. " Yeah……………….. I’m fulfilling my destiny." And so his journey begins……
