"Ripping Through Fears" (Forest Village) The cool breeze brushed against his brown hair as he perched on top of his home, in the middle of the forest. He calmly sat, resting his head on his right hand, peering into the horizon. The sun was setting now. He never missed a sunset. It was too important for him to miss. It symbolized hope to him, something that he striven and ran his life by. He can already hear the crickets in the background and that meant the show was about to begin, but he was the only audience. He didn’t have many friends, only one and that man wasn’t around anymore, and never wanted to come back. Bob didn’t live in the Village either. He wanted the solitude, and that made him happy. The thought that he didn’t have to look after anyone but himself made him happy. He has been alone for 12 years now, quietly living in the forest, eating off the animals and vegetation there, and dodging those pesky Griffins that shared his world. But his world, to him, was too small. He missed the laughter of children, the sound of public arguments and fights; stuff people took for granted. But the thing that bothered him the most is that he can never go back. Why should he? He has been doing just fine now. " Yeah, I have been doing great…," He said with a monophonic tone. Sigh. Bob gazed at the setting sun as the sky ripped open with a bright fiery gaze that seemed to only make him wish he was back home, with his family. As the sunset was at its final stage, he closed his eyes. He could feel the power of the moment in his body, which he believed was from his slain parents. And this power turned to will and strength. The power he will avenge with. He opened his eyes, and the sun was almost down. He sat there, thinking about how he got to this place. All the struggles he had to face, the hurdles he had to jump, and the sacrifices he had to indure. He went through a hell of a lot. And even though everything he went through was terrible and tragic, he always said to himself that there was a reason for it, and these events made him stronger. Bob turned his head and looked over the horizon again. Thousands and thousands of trees stood below him, with the mountains nestled from a distance at the end. He called this scene "The Sea of Greens" one day, and laughed everytime he thought about it. But quickly that smile turned to a frown. He glanced at the sun, as it finally disappeared behind the mountain, and stared as the fiery glow slowly faded away. Suddenly everything he saw swirled and faded away. Bob rubbed his eyes, but it was no good. He was somewhere else. He wasn’t in the forest anymore, but a small room. He looked around the room and saw a small bed in the center, with a small table next to it with a lamp. That was it. But this confusion of where he was slowly turned to familiarity. He knew where he was now. It was all coming back to him. " Come on Bob, your going to miss it!" Bob knew whose voice that was. It was like a sudden jolt of shock went through his body. He peered towards the door, and there stood a small girl in the hallway. Her long brown locks and her beautiful brown eyes hinted a divine picture of perfection that made him feel warm and happy. The white dress that laced around her body only enhanced the feeling of happiness that he felt towards her. Bob smiled with amazement and a small tear fell off his cheek. "Come on, come on!" she said as she ran downstairs. The clapping sounds of her red shoes were heard as she left the house and went outside in the front yard. "I’m coming!" cried an unknown voice from the closet. Bob turned to it. He knew who it was. The closet door flew open flew open and a young boy jumped out with a long stick and laughed. " I found it! Yessss! And you thought I couldn’t find it Mom! Ha!" He laughed again as he ran downstairs. Bob remembered what this was all about. This was that time, the time long ago that he tried to forget all these years. Why was this happening now? He walked out of the small room without looking back. He slowly walked down the stairs and looked at the wall. There hung a family portrait of the little girl that he saw, his parents, and his child self. Bob suddenly had the feeling inside of him that he never had before. He wanted to cry so hard, but he let it in, like he always did. As he got down the stairs he heard more familiar voices. "Those two… never misses a sunset. And to think we thought Bob wouldn’t like her." Said a voice coming from the kitchen to his left. Bob knew that this voice was his mother’s. " Of course dear," said his father, sitting down at the table, eating some apple pie. His mother’s apple pie was the best in the world. Bob walked in the kitchen and felt like crying again, but the only thing that came out was a single tear. He quickly turned around. He just could bare to see his parents anymore. He knew what day it was now. He knew what was going to happen. He had to do something about it. Bob ran towards the front door, while his parents giggled in the background. He went to open it, but his hand went right through the doorknob. Bob sighed. " What is this place? Am I in a dream world? Well what ever it is, I can’t stay here any longer!!" He started to slap himself in the head. " Wake up Bob! Wake up!!" he cried. Knowing it wasn’t working, he ran through the door and stood on the steps. "No. I can’t bear to watch this!!!" he screamed. But no one heard him. Everyone in the small town just went on with their day. Bob looked around the town and saw a statue standing in the middle of the town. He ran up to it and started to punch it, but again his hands went right through it. " You were suppose to protect this town Colte! You were suppose to save us! Some guardian you are!" Bob spat on the statue, but it never landed. The history of Colte is a very faded one. The townspeople believed that she was a goddess that came down to the earth and made the first two Lycanthropes. These two mated, and formed this town. The townspeople of many generations back built this statue for tribute to Colte, and named the town after her. They believe that she was portecting the town from harm, and she will allow their race to live forever. But Lycanthropes weren’t ordinary humans. They were half man half wolf, and contained the power to transform between the two only with a special rune. When a Lycanthrope is born, the rune is fused onto the baby’s forehead, and this was called "The Mark of Colte." Without the "mark", Lycanthropes would change at random and was very difficult to live their lives. Everyone in town was a Lycanthrope, except Bob’s adopted sister, and the town was fine with that. They all loved her, and she loved them. While everyone though this ability was a blessing, Bob, on the other hand, did not like it at all. In fact, he hated it. But he lived to deal with it, and he tried to not change as much as possible. Laughter from the tree to his left suddenly drew his attention. He looked up the tree that stood in front of his home and saw his child self and his sister up in the tree, looking at the horizon. The sun was setting, and Bob knew what was going to happen next. Suddenly he felt a chill. The air was getting colder, and he grew tense with every second. The sun finally disappeared, and that was the cue. " Another cool sunset. Wasn’t that cool Bob?" said his sister. " Yeah" "Yeah, that was cool!" screamed young Bob with excitement. "But we better go back inside now, mom made apple pie! Come on Saria!" He jumped off the branch, with his stick in hand, and ran in the house. Saria…… that name. The name of hope to him. He missed saying that name to her. " Hey! Wait for me!!" screamed Saria as she ran inside. Bob turned around and looked at his house, with tears in his eyes. He couldn’t hold back anymore. He had to let it out. " Good-bye Colte. Good-bye Mom. Good-bye…….Dad." he cried. Bob fell to his knees and covered his face with his hands. " Why am I here!?! Why do I have to see this again?!!" he screamed. Suddenly, with a loud bang, the Item shop near the center of the town lit up in flames. Everyone in town ran outside to see what happened. Beside the shop stood a blond haired woman, wearing an Imperial uniform. She had this smirk on her face that Bob would never forget. " Come out everyone!! My name is Windy of the Imperial Army. I have been sent here to dispose of you all. You are all pathetic mutants and deserve to be exterminated. You are all a giant mistake. And I have come to correct it!" she blurted out. Everyone in town was surprised and frightened. Bob’s family ran outside to see what was going on. They all looked at the burning shop and gasped. Saria hid behind young Bob, with pie on her face. " Colte, our protector, will protect us from your evil mind!" shouted the Mayor. " Ha ha ha ha ha!! A measly statue will protect you?! Don’t make me laugh!" Windy lifted up her hand and pointed to the statue. " Protect this Colte!!" Suddenly a giant fireball flew out of Windy’s slender hand and crashed into the statue, shattering it to pieces. Instantly, the townspeople became silent. Colte, their protector, didn’t do anything! The legend! All fake! " Ha ha ha ha! Prepare to be slaughtered!!" She pointed at a group of people and a giant lightning bolt shot out and electrocuted them. They fell to the ground, dead. Everyone ran for his or her lives. Screams and cries swallowed the silence and laughter of that witch was heard in the background. " We have to fend for our beloved town!!" yelled a man. " Your right!!" screamed another. "Everyone!! Let’s use what we have been blessed by!" shouted the Mayor. All of the sudden, a group of men called out something in the air. " Oh Rabid Rune!! Give us power!!" With amazement, the men suddenly started to howl. Their bodies grew bigger, and their skin turned to hair. Big sharp teeth hung out of their mouths, and a snout stuck out of their face. They were wolves now. The blessing of Colte. They jumped at Windy, with their sharp claws sticking right out. But Windy closed her eyes, and suddenly a large blue bubble surrounded her, and the wolves bounced right off the bubble, and crashed to the ground. " Ha ha ha ha!! Your pathetic little dog ability is no match for my rune!!" Windy pointed at the fallen wolves and froze them with an icy gas. They then shattered in seconds. Everyone in town saw this, and ran. Not even their blessing could do it. Everyone felt hopeless. Bob stood up, with his fists clenched, and ran at Windy. He leaped at her, but flew right through her, and landed face first on the ground. More buildings lit up in flames. " None of you will survive! Ha ha ha ha ha!!!" " Bob, I want you to take your sister and run away. Run as far away as you can!" his father told him. " But what about you and Mom??" cried young Bob. " Don’t you worry about us. Just go!!" screamed his mother. Bob looked towards his family and saw his young self and his sister run start to run behind his house. " Where do you think you two are going?!" Windy shrieked. " Let them go! Take us instead!" screamed Bob’s father. " Not only will I take your lives, but your children as well!!" Windy pointed at Bob’s parents, and a fireball flew at them. Suddenly time slowed down, and his parents screamed. Both Bob and young Bob turned around to see what was happening. The fireball slowly hit his parents, igniting them on fire. "NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo!!!" screamed both Bob’s. Saria burst out with tears. "Run Bob run!!!" screamed his Dad and he fell to the ground, burning, aching, dying. Young Bob turned back around, crying, and ran behind the house, pulling his crying sister with him. " Not so fast!!" laughed Windy as she shot another fireball at young Bob. It missed and blew up his house. " Oh well, they are just pathetic children, they will never make it alive. Ha ha ha ha ha!!" Bob looked as his sister and him ran out of the back of the town. He laid there looking at the town as it lit up in flames, crying. He glanced at the broken statue, his charcoiled parents, and suddenly everything went slow mow again. He became delirious. The town was twisting and turning around him as he cried like he never cried before. His vision slowly faded and all he could see was black. The sounds of pain and agony faded away and the last sound that he heard, was Windy’s evil laugh. Darkness surrounded him. He looked around him, but he couldn’t see anything. He closed his eyes and more tears fell out. " Why did I have to experience that again!?!! Why?!!!!" he cried. With
the last of his energy, he opened his eyes and he was back on top of his
roof, in the cool air. The only sound that was heard was the chirping of
crickets. He looked up and saw the billions and billions of stars that
hung in the blackened sky. He felt tired and useless, so he slowly went
off the roof and crawled through his window. He moped to his bed, and cried
himself to sleep. He didn’t dream of anything that night, and he couldn’t
wait to morning so he could try to forget what happened. But
