"White Dragon Duel" (Outside L'Renouille) Both Agares and the soldier Verilian eyed each other carefully. Agares was far more experienced then Verilian, but the soldier had youth on his side. Agares knew he'd be a little faster and his blows would come quicker. Verilian was no fool. He knew Agares could certainly take him. He wasn't the king for no reason. But there was much at stake here. The rank of Lieutenant and Agares' horse, Sara. Yes, he could definitely use those. Agares and Verilian circled each other, weary, cautious. Verilian had his shield up and his sword at the ready. Verilian was cautious, and not willing to attack first, lest he open himself up for an attack. Agares decided to start the battle off. He charged forward, but Verilian was ready. The White Dragon sidestepped neatly, and whacked Agares on the back with the blunt end of the sword. Agares stumbled, but only for a moment. He came back up and slashed across with his sword Blitz. Agares didn't really put his heart into the slash though. Verilian came over and slashed down. His sword did not even dent Agares' helmet. Agares came in with the sword and slashed at Verilian's undefended side. Verilian reposted, striking Agare's breastplate with his sword, knocking the King off-balance. Agares stumbled and Verilian rushed in swinging his sword. Agares recovered in time to see the blade of Verilian's sword come down on him. Agares bowled forward, knocking Verilian to the ground. Agares stood over the soldier with his sword pointed at Verilian's neck. "I win." He said. He helped Verilian to his feet. "You truly are a great Swordsman." Verilian said in awe. "It comes with years of practicing." Agares said. "How long have you practiced, Verilian?" "Three years." "Forty-five years.' Verilian's eyes widened. "Amazing, sire." Agares merely smiled. He walked over to his horse and got on. "Mayhap we shall meet again when your skills have improved, sir Verilian." Agares rode off back to the castle.
